• Last night at the Pithara Speedway, Cody Turacchio put in a terrific performance to claim the opening round of the Stainless Fastener Supplies West Coast Series, proudly presented by Ridgetech Roofing Pty Ltd.
Turacchio found himself fifth in points after the heats were completed, but was able to blast his way past Bryan Sharpe, Chris Dymock, Ryan Higgs and Mark House in the pole shuffle to start on the front row for the twenty lap feature alongside current WA Champion Steven Ellement who defeated Turacchio in the final shuffle.
Ellement had earlier claimed wins in his two heats, while the other preliminary wins were shared by Mark House, Bryan Sharpe, Ryan Higgs and Matthew Edwards Pope who after his heat win, only completed one lap of his next heat after mechanical woes sidelined him for the rest of the night.
Ellement claimed the pole shuffle while Jamie Pages claimed the win in the Mid Pack Madness to start from position seven in the feature while Matt Brown, who earlier lost points in his opening heat for not going to scales, claimed the B Main win and would start from position seventeen in the final.
The first attempt at a start in the feature didn’t last long as the yellows were thrown for Craig Noakes and Amy Waldron who got together in turn one. Waldron was unable to restart, leaving nineteen cars on track for a second attempt.
The second attempt saw Ellement get the jump and lead the opening lap from Turacchio, Higgs and House. Matt Brown, coming from the B Main quickly began making his way forward, in seventh by the completion of lap one, then moving past Dymock a lap later to be sixth.
Turacchio made his way past Ellement on the third circulation, while Brown and Dymock would both pass Jamie Pages for fifth and sixth respectively on the same lap.
The front five cars would begin to pull away from here, and it wouldn’t be long before they found themselves in heavy lapped traffic. For the next ten or so laps, cars would fight tooth and nail, not just to get by lapped cars, but also to advance positions, and eventually it all came undone with Ryan Higgs, Matt Brown, Carl Della and Craig Noakes all involved in an incident on lap thirteen that bought out the yellows.
When the dust had cleared it would be Higgs on the infield along with Noakes, with Turacchio leading away Ellement and Brown while Mark House and Chris Dymock rounded out the top five with seven laps remaining.
Turacchio and Ellement were away again while Brown, House and Dymock continued to fight it out for the final step on the podium. With four to go House got by Brown for third, but Brown didn’t give up, moving back into third with just two laps remaining.
The battle continued right down to the wire, with Turacchio running out a convincing winner over Ellement while Brown held on for third. Chris Dymock also made his move on the last lap and grabbed fourth right on the line, just 0.034 seconds ahead of House who would ultimately round out the top five.
Courtesy of the nights racing, it is actually Jamie Pages who leads the Stainless Fastener Supplies West Coast Series points, being the only driver to play his Ace Card to double his points on the night. He currently has 158 points to lead Turacchio on 97 and Ellement on 96.
The next round of the Stainless Fastener Supplies West Coast Series will be held at the Esperance Speedway on Friday the 20th of November, but in the meantime, Formula 500’s will be back on track next weekend at the Perth Motorplex and with another big nomination list already received, it should be an exciting one!

    Roser Capitilises on Fiedler’s Misfortune!
The Junior Formula 500’s put on a show last night at the Pithara Speedway and although it was Axel Fiedler who dominated the heats, it was Flynn Roser who claimed the feature race win.
Fielder was strong through the heats, grabbing the win in all three six lap events while Roser had to settle for two seconds and a DNF in his second race.
Marcus Pages made his first on track appearance and impressed many, putting in a solid effort to come second in a heat race also, while Dustin Filgate and Lauren Hedington each improved every time they hit the track.
In the feature race Fiedler was to start from pole and he began to race away but unfortunately with four laps complete he managed to spin out and ended up tipping his machine over, ending his race.
Roser would inherit the lead, and despite Pages chasing hard he was unable to make the moves, Roser claiming the win in the fifteen lap event from Pages, with Filgate and Hedington rounding out the field.
All five Junior racers should be congratulated on their efforts last night and we look forward to seeing them back on track as support to the seniors Stainless Fastener Supplies West Coast Series soon!
