Ultimately it was a bridge too far for Kodee Brown when he failed to make the A Main of the Australian Late Model Championship, at the Perth Motorplex in Western Australia.

Brown was always going to be up against it, after a fuel pump issue in official qualifying robbed the former National Champion of firstly qualifying and then taking part in his opening heat race.

Despite finishing fifth in the second Preliminary Feature Race on the Wednesday night, Brown would go into night two, still dead last on points.

Brown started on the front row in his only qualifying heat on Saturday night, and totally demolished the opposition, winning by half a lap, which still only gave Brown enough points to move up three positions on the overall points tally, starting from position eleven in the B Main.

Brown immediately went on the attack, passing four cars in the opening laps, but still would need luck on his side to advance to the top four, which would then see him transfer to the A Main. Sadly for Brown and the good crowd on hand, the B Main went flag to flag, with Brown stuck for the majority of the race fighting with Jay Cardy, Cody Avins, Jamie Moon and David Boyes, and he was unable to get any momentum in traffic to make the passes required.

Jason Bond would go on to record a thrilling win over Veronica McCann and Jai Mazzini, with nothing separating the trio throughout, while Aydan Trewern set the quick lap of the race, and joined the lead three cars with two laps remaining.

For Brown, he will now regroup for the remainder of the USA v WA Late Model Invasion Tour, which heads to Albany next weekend.
