• It might be an old cliche, but Adrian Haywood would suffer all three on Saturday night at the Perth Motorplex in the annual Sprintcar Muster.

Haywood would start well with the third fastest time in official qualifying, setting a time of 14.276, with only Andrew Priolo (14.180) and Shane Stewart (14.215) setting quicker times.

The fast qualifying lap put Haywood in a good position in his opening qualifying heat, but contact with the wall exiting turn two, saw the Plus Fitness Halls Head, Thorny Devil Craft Beer and Cider W88 fall back through the field.

The crew would work over-time to get the car back on track in the second round of heats, which would see Haywood start from the back, and not be able to make any positions up in the eight lap qualifying heat.

“The car didn’t feel right, and to be honest it didn’t feel right in qualifying either, but we were lucky that we were in an early group and able to post a decent time”, he said.

The crew continued to work on the car, as Haywood would start from position fourteen in the thirty lap A Main. Haywood would occupy every position from eleven to sixteen in the twelve laps he completed before contact with Todd Davis saw both cars end up in the fence in turn one, ending Haywoods race.

The car would suffer significant damage, and will require many hours of work before it is race ready once again.

"We had a Steering Box issue, so we changed it out, the crew did an amazing job getting me out for the Feature, they worked under plenty of pressure and got me back out on track for the A Main. I had a really good car for the Feature and I was railing along real nice and got up to eleventh, until someone spun on the exit of four, with a couple of cars involved I had nowhere to go and end up with a bent the front end and a buggered front wing, which severely impacted the car handling wise, so I was then just try to stay out of trouble to get laps under my belt when we were in another racing incident", Haywood added.
