• After a strong start to his Interstate assault, West Australian, Gary Higgs will face possibly his toughest test on Thursday and Friday night, when he contests the Super Sedan Summer Slam at the uniquely shaped Mothar Mountain Speedway, Gympie, Queensland.

To be contested over three consecutive nights, Higgs will face two nights at the Gympie venue, before moving back to the Ausdeck Patios, Archerfield Speedway on Saturday night.

Without turning a lap in a brand new car, Higgs finished fourth at the Archerfield venue before finishing fifth at Kingaroy in the Queensland Title.

The Gympie layout though, will be something totally foreign to Higgs, who will need to adapt rapidly to be competitive against Matt Pascoe, Darren Kane, Sean Black, Wayne Randall, Gary Pagel and Matt Williams.

“Yeah I’ve been to Gympie but we’ve never raced there. I think I will get used to the track after a couple of laps. We love a good challenge, a track that Matt Pascoe does well on. He’s already given us a few ideas with set up. After last round we’ve seen that our set up is slightly different to his”, Higgs said.

With a tight schedule after three nights of racing, the team will only have a few hours after the meeting to wash the car before returning to Perth, so most of the preparation will be done before the racing commences.

“We are fairly prepared for the three nights and shouldn’t have too much of an issue”, he added.

With twenty six drivers entered for the Boxing night event, Higgs will need his best to qualify well for the A Main.

After the three nights in Queensland, Higgs will then move to Tasmania to contest all of the big events including the Grand Prix and the Grand National in January 2020.
