• Following last Saturday night’s eighth World Series Sprintcar Championship round at Albany’s Attwell Park Speedway in Western Australia, the Krikke Motorsport team and their driver Kerry Madsen are hot in pursuit of the championship lead, which currently sits just seven points out of reach.

Visiting the Albany venue for the first time since a World Series round during the 2011-12 season, Madsen managed to improve on his inside second row starting position. However, despite coming home in second place, the result wasn’t quite enough to cover the points haul from race winner Steven Lines, who has now taken back over the WSS point standings lead ahead of Madsen.

With just seven points the difference between them, a sixth WSS Championship victory for the Bunbury, WA-based team is well within sight as they prepare to contest this Friday and Saturday night’s final two series rounds at the Perth Motorplex.

Having last emerged victorious in the 2014-15 season WSS Championship with former team driver Brooke Tatnell at the helm, the team is confident that Madsen is more than capable of reclaiming the crown.

“We’re not quite where we wanted to be heading into the final two World Series rounds after slipping back to second in the points, but we’re only seven points behind the lead, we are still well and truly in the hunt,” enthused the four-time Australian Champion.

“It’s all going to come down to these last two rounds and whoever has the better run between the two of us (Steven Lines) will most likely come out on top. Our goal is to hopefully win both nights and then the point standings will take care of itself.”

Current WSS Championship Point Standings (after eight completed rounds):
    1: Steven Lines - 2242 points
    2: Kerry Madsen - 2235
    3: James McFadden - 2005
    5: Rusty Hickman - 1703
    4: Jamie Veal - 1639
