Sydney Sprintcar legend Skip Jackson is headed home this Christmas.
The 50 year old multiple championship-winning superstar will return for a brief holiday with family from late December this year until early January 2019.

Jackson, who has lived in Knoxville Iowa (USA) for most of the last two decades, will bring his three children AJ, Abbi and Andrew with him.

His stellar racing career included title victories in three World Series Sprintcars Championships in a row 1997/1998/1999, the Australian Sprintcar Championship at Archerfield in 2000/2001 and back to back Knoxville Raceway Track Championships in 1997 and 1998.

He was a two-time PCR Track Champion in 1992/93 and 1995/96 and two NSW Championships in 1996 and 1997.

Skip’s 10th on all the all-time winners list at PCR/VR with 23 main event wins and ninth on the all-time WSS winners list with 13 main event successes.

He also won the 1993 Valvoline Australian Sprintcar Grand Prix.

He is one of only three Australians to clinch the Knoxville Championships along with brothers Ian and Kerry Madsen.

Jackson is one of the most loved and respected Australians to have ever raced in the USA.

The opportunity to have Skip back at his ‘home track’ Valvoline Raceway however is not lost on the Ultimate Sprintcar Championship.

On Friday December 28 Valvoline Raceway will conduct a special “Salute to Skip” to welcome home the former track champion and recognize his star studded career.

The four-wide salute will be dedicated to Skip whilst fans will also be treated to Jackson’s 18 year old son AJ announcing with VR commentator Stu McCarthy.

“AJ’s quite a talented young announcer in the USA,” says MTG PR Manager Wade Aunger, “he lead announces at the English Creek Raceway just out of Knoxville and pit reports and films at Knoxville Raceway weekly. I know it’s a bit of a bucket list thing for AJ to announce at the track where his Dad became a house hold name (Parramatta) and to do it on a night that honors Skip is the icing on the cake.”

Skip Jackson concurs.

“It’s going to be great to come home and see my Mum, my brothers and all of our family and friends,” he says, “I know that AJ is very excited about announcing a couple of races at Parramatta and we’re all excited about spending Christmas in the summer.”

Skip is one of six Jackson brothers raised for most of their lives by proud Mum Maureen who attends Valvoline Raceway regularly and particularly to watch son Bob race his Speedcar.
