• With racing completed for the 2017 season, Ian Madsen and the KCP Racing team were able to celebrate their successful season Saturday night during the Knoxville Raceway banquet, as the team will now set out for a massive effort on the road in 2018 with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series.

“Looking back at our season starting in Florida in February and concluding in Charlotte in November, I really feel like we were on our game all season long,” Ian Madsen said. “That comes down to having a great team in place, and a great group of partners, and for that I am extremely thankful.”

Running a grueling schedule in 2017 that saw the team crisscross the United States at times, Madsen and KCP Racing were fast at every track they checked into. Starting the season with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series in Florida, and making the long journey out West, Madsen and company showed they could run up front with the Greatest Show on dirt as the team sat third in the point standings when they broke away to begin the Knoxville Raceway scheduled in April.

Moving to Knoxville, Madsen and company proved to be the team to beat night in and night out as Madsen showed early he would be a threat for the track championship, as him and Brian Brown seemed to exchange wins weekly.

In the end, Madsen and KCP Racing would race 90 times in 2017, record 11 feature event wins, pocket their second Knoxville Raceway Championship in four years, pick up 36 Top-5 Finishes, and 58 Top-10 Finishes.

Saturday night, Madsen and his team assembled at the Knoxville Raceway Championship Banquet, and Madsen and team had the opportunity to share a relaxing night with many partners, just one week after their team banquet where they announced their plans of going on the road with the World of Outlaws in 2018.

“The last two weeks have been great,” Madsen said. “We have been able to really hang out with our partners and thank them for everything they have done for us over the years, and it has been nice to relax and have some fun away from the track after a busy season. I cant thank the Nehring family enough for getting on board with Matt Barbara and I a few years ago, and continuing to stick with KCP Racing and growing it to what it is today. This is truly one of the most fun teams to race for in the pits, and I am very thankful to be a part of it, and am very excited for 2018.”
