• Crash and Bash excited dirt track fans on Good Friday when they shared top billing on the annual race date at Rosedale Speedway, Sprintcar Star Brad Warren went on to win another feature race in what is shaping as a great season which has him winning events, raising money for charity and entertaining the crowd with burnouts and rollovers.

New drivers continue to join the fray with one of the latest biggest additions being Matt Nelson a regular racer in the national level Modified Sedan and Street Stock divisions. By all accounts he had a blast despite not giving the final a shake.

Rob Disher who is also having a consistent season, took a huge victory in the first heat race winning by a couple laps from Beau Evans, Mark Richard, Glen Bosanko, Adrian Brown and Ian Lamb, Warren didn’t finish this heat putting him on the back foot in qualifying.

James Kane won his first heat race in the second with Steve Attewell the next winner in a close result with Rob Bushell less than a second behind at the line.

In round two racing Warren was too strong for Shannon Mair and Chris Aarts and Grant Attewell (One of three from the same family) won the next race over his son Joshua by less than a second also.

Grant finishing with blown out welsh plugs. Steve Attewell won his second heat race with a victory over strong competitors such as Kane, Sinclair and Dale Morrison.

Morrison won his final heat race in the final round with Josh Attewell and Kane the winners in round three.

Eighteen starters were scheduled to begin the Crash and Bash Easter Final at Rosedale with Steve Attewell, Kane, Josh Attewell, Bushell, Sinclair, Mair, Bosanko, Evans, Warren and Daniel Williams the top ten starters. One of the great entertainers in Crash and Bash, Dale Morrison disappointed expectant fans by not getting past lap one, with no tyres on the left hand side of his race car, Alan George suffered the same non-finishing fate with a broken steering shaft.

Bushell didn’t last long either after performing strongly any many finals this season. Warren and Disher got around nicely in the final and the speed and spins caught up to the rest of the field with most being lapped several times by the front runners.

Warren started his stint in the lead on lap five. Steve Attewell was behind in second and Disher moved his way from well down the list and into third by lap seven. Mair moved into third as Attewell suffered his demise and Disher moved up to second around lap fourteen.

Mair eventually blew a clutch in his Valiant.

Beau Evans bent a Steering arm, Josh Attewell, Steve Attewell damaged front end, Fawns, Richard, Aarts whose battery went flat after he got spun due to a broken charge wire, Mair, Lamb blown tyres and Sinclair were classed as non finishers.

Warren would go on to win setting the fastest lap of the final at 20.999 with Disher in second almost nineteen seconds behind on the same lap, Kane despite struggling with the quick steer, Williams, Bosanko despite steering issues, Van Loo and Miles were classed as finishers.

After the feature race Warren praised the division. “This division is a crazy amount of fun for all of us racers no matter what budget you have to go racing with. We are attracting drivers from some of the more well known divisions to come and have some fun with us, the crowd gives us great support and all this is helping the tracks we compete at through the pay gate. Thanks to Rosedale for having us and for all their efforts. Thank you to my boss Daniel for his support with my racing and with this classes racing and well done to the other competitors for coming out and putting on a show.”

Crash and Bash have the Victorian title coming up at Alexandra Speedway in May through a Dog Leg race track, on the same night a Legends race is being organised for some from the past to come back and have a run.
