• The Super Sedans SA season officially came to an end on the weekend with the 2015/16 season Presentation Dinner with over 100 guests at the Mawson Lakes Hotel. As expected both Michael Miller and Ryan Alexander were the big winners on the night but several other drivers, club members and sponsors were also recognised on what was a great way to finish off what had been an exciting season.

The 2015/16 season saw the introduction of a statewide Super Sedan series with events being conducted at six different venues. After 16 tough rounds Michael Miller emerged the inaugural JD Couriers Super Series Champion edging out Ryan Alexander and South Australian Champion Dave Gartner. Going into the final round at the Sunline Speedway Miller only had to start the feature but he went on to win the series in style as also claimed the Grand Final.

Despite winning the Series Miller only claimed two round wins but he found himself on the podium a staggering 14 times. The remaining 14 round victories were shared between Ryan Alexander and Dave Gartner with seven round wins each.

Along with the three drivers mentioned a further 8 drivers visited the podium at least once with Graham Stewart, Paul Blenkiron and Robbie Marchant all recording multiple podium results.

JD Couriers Super Series Final Results:

    1: 47 Michael Miller, 2: 36 Ryan Alexander, 3: 1 Dave Gartner, 4: 55 Graham Stewart, 5: 22 Paul Blenkiron, 6: 93 Kym Jury, 7: 87 Robbie Marchant, 8: 2 Daniel Obst, 9: 52 Michael Brown, 10: 23 Kaleb Perrett, 11: 17 Jamie Aguis, 12: 77 Trevor Ware, 13: 36 Jake Armstrong 14: 66 Dylan Hannam.

It was also confirmed on the night that the series will go ahead again next year but it will possibly be a reduced schedule. Already the new Adelaide Motorsport Park (former Speedway City) and the Murray Bridge Speedway have confirmed they will stage events with negotiations currently taking place with the remaining venues.

As previously mentioned Michael Miller also received several other awards on the night including two of the most prestigious awards; the President’s Award and the Club Member of the Year, an award he shared with his Wife Angie. Miller also collected the Speedway SA Highest Points Award for all events across South Australia along with a special presentation from John Dawson.

Ryan Alexander was another driver to walk away with multiple trophies as he was awarded the Best Presented Car and Crew, The Best and Fairest and the Driver’s Driver Award. His crew member Rodney Lawrence also received the Mechanic of the Year.

Veteran racer Robbie Marchant was also called up twice throughout the evening with the long-time sedan racer receiving the Most Improved Driver along with the Club recognising his 50th year of Speedway competition.

Barossa Valley racer Kym Jury, who won his maiden feature event at a non-points meeting late in the year, was presented with the Rookie of the Year.
