• Fresh from a pole position at Horsham's Blue Ribbon Speedway converted into a third place finish, Young Motorsport and lead driver Donald Young head to Queensland for the upcoming Queensland SSA Junior Sedan title at Cairns Speedway & the North Queensland title the very next night at Mareeba Speedway this coming June 25th & 26th with confidence that they are on the pace for a podium placing.

The two titles will also close out Donald's career in Junior Sedans with senior racing awaiting him next season & the team are looking forward to the trip & finishing on a high competing against the very strong Brendan Learoyd & Ardie Jonic, there will be thirty competitors at the Queensland title and around twenty five at the North Queensland event.

This season in Donald has defeated Ardie in heat racing in South Australia & feels confident with a car that is much improved since that time after sorting out a few handling issues & finding some more power out of the engine. "We have worked hard since the Australian title in January to pin point some mechanical issues and then improve on what we had. Dad, Mum & Zoe have been incredible support this year in my last season, we are ready to go to Queensland and give the locals a good run for the trophy." shared Donald.

Team Principals Andy & Paula believe a fifth place is a very achievable target & possibly higher if luck goes the way of the team, although they acknowledge the 1500cc fuel injected Charade of Learoyd is very difficult to defeat.

Preparation for Queensland began at Nyora in May at a meeting where Donald defeated current Australian champion Todd Atkins finishing second in heats twice, winning one before winning the final. At this meeting Pakenham’s Allcare Exhaust guru Wayne Ramsdale himself a Modified Sedan competitor shared some advice in regards to the # 43 cars exhaust which resulted in an adjustable exhaust where the length could be adjusted to be able to tune it on a dyno.

Street Stock racer Lenny Bates at Good Guys Performance in Melbourne’s Eastern Suburbs then completed a dyno session where after combining the new exhaust set up & Bates set up & dyno expertise, the numbers were impressive in regards to the engine output before the car headed to Pedder’s Frankston for a suspension check-up.

This past weekend June 11 & 12, Donald drove in Zoe's Corolla whilst the Datsun rested for the Queensland trip. Donald won three of his five heat races at Horsham in the Dimboola Traders Cup, before finishing third in a tough battle in the final that included Brad Gartner & Angus Hollis where the track on night two probably would have suited the Datsun instead.

So far this season Donald has clocked up a fourth place in the NT title, fifth in the Redline Raceway Piston Cup, third in the Dimboola Traders Cup at Horsham & a fourth at the Neville Pike Cup at Premier Speedway Warrnambool, a top three Queensland result would make it a great last season for Donald.
