• The 2016/2017 Australian Sprintcar Championship is headed to Sydney’s Valvoline Raceway, and plans are well underway to make the 55th running of the time honoured affair one of the most memorable ever.

Thursday January 26 (Australia Day), Friday January 27 and Saturday January 28 are the dates.

Still on a high after the spectacular staging of the 75th Anniversary Rod Bowen Prestige Smash Repairs 2016 Australian Speedcar Championship earlier this year VR Managing Director Steven Green is delighted that the National Sprintcar title will be coming to the Harbour City next season.

“We’re really excited that the title is coming,” says Green, “it’s a particularly exciting time around Australia Day in Sydney and so it’s a fantastic time to see the sights and sounds of the Harbour City during the day and then the Championship action at night. We’re already well underway with our planning.”

Current Australian Champion Kerry Madsen will defend his title at his home track, and when you add the Sydney oriented former national champion superstars of the sport including Robbie Farr, Brooke Tatnell, Max Dumesny (Victorian born but Sydney domiciled) and Garry Brazier to name only a few the rich history of the title is ingrained in the clay at Parramatta.

In the 54 times the title has been held so far NSW has boasted an incredible 36 victories – that’s four times as many as the next best state of Victoria with nine wins.

PCR now Valvoline Raceway has held the Australian title five times with the last time being in 2008 when Garry Brazier won his last of 6 titles.

NSW drivers that have won the Australian Sprintcar Title include:

    Bill Warner

    Dick Briton

    Bob Tunks

    Jim Winterbottom

    Steve Brazier

    George Tatnell

    Garry Rush

    Garry Brazier

    Skip Jackson

    Robbie Farr

    Brooke Tatnell

    Kerry Madsen

The weekly USC NSW competition at Valvoline Raceway is arguably the toughest domestic competition in the world with the rising stars and established heroes making Saturday night battles legendary.

“I think the timing for us to conduct the Championship is perfect,” says Green, “we’ll be into our third season running Parramatta in 2016/2017 and our second season of the USC. I think in the last two seasons we’re really starting to kick some goals and I know our whole team is excited about the future. We’re honoured to promote the 55th Australian Sprintcar Championship.”

More information on formats, travel and accommodation packages, on and off track entertainment and many other facets will follow soon.

The naming rights sponsorship for the Championship is available.

Information on advance ticket sales will follow soon.
