• The nominations for the 44th Lucas Oil Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic continue to roll in with drivers from all around the country forming the latest batch of entrants headed up by Robbie Farr, Bradley Keller and Peter Lack.

Farr, will once again be at the wheel of the potent East Coast Pipeline Racing / Cool, as he attempts to claim a maiden Classic victory.

The former Australian Champion has been in solid form in Ultimate Sprintcar Championship Action at both Sydney Speedway and Toowoomba of recent times.

With regular wrench Nick Speed on the spanners as always, Farr is one of a host of drivers capable of being at the pointy end of the field come the Sunday night of the Classic as highlighted by his 8th place finish in 2015.

For his 2016 Classic assault, the hard charging Farr will enjoy the fantastic support of IOR Energy, Hi-Tec Oils, Cool Chassis, Garrett Race Engines, DWB Radiators, Vermeer and Golden City Trucks.

One of the feel good stories of the 2016 Classic will undoubtedly be the return of up and coming South Australian Star Bradley Keller.

Keller, as many will recall, suffered a serious back injury that commanded the meticulous attention of the Premier Speedway Crash Crew during the first of two
    B-Mains at the 2015 Classic.

Thankfully, a rigorous rehabilitation program has seen Keller return to the seat of his James Rosenberg Racing, Shadetec, Daniel and Son Road Transport, Peter Page Holden, FUCHS and Spitwater backed SA19 entry.

With some solid performances already under his belt, Keller is one of the emerging stars of the sport in Australia and will be one to watch come the Month of Money.

Making the long trek south from his Withcott, Queensland base for the 2016 Lucas Oil Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic will be Peter Lack.

Lack who is no stranger to Sungold Stadium has been in fantastic form in the rounds of the Ultimate Sprintcar Championship held at Toowoomba having well and truly qualified for the Chase portion of the series.

Coming off the back of a C-Main appearance in 2015, Lack will be striving for improvement this year to reward the loyal support of G & W Racing, Lucas Oil, East Coast Logistics, Millennium Homes, Withcott Seedlings and Inglis Race Engines.

Broken Hill’s Brendan Guerin is another who will be looking for an improved performance at the 2016 Classic.

Guerin, who drives the S86 Century Batteries, Hi-Tec Oils, Mocare Australia, Jade Signs, Flat Out Tyres and 7 Day Spares entry, battled his way to a tenth place finish in the D-Main last January.

Joining Guerin in the field will be Mt. Barker South Australia’s Craig Vanderstelt.

Vanderstelt has already logged some laps at Sungold Stadium this summer as he plans his raid on the major races of the summer here this season.

A lowly 6th place in the D-Main in 2015 will be incentive for Vanderstelt to continually strive for improvement aboard the Direct Fuels, Zenith Custom Creations, and Tucker Motorcycles SA2 Cool Chassis.

One of the feel good, never say die stories of the 2015 Classic was the efforts of Brent Aprile to even muster a qualifying lap, let alone fit his way back into Sunday night’s main program.

Aprile had a component failure during his opening hot lap session, which resulted in some significant damage to the once pristine NQ42 entry.

He along with his hard working and forward thinking crew, knew that without a qualifying lap that their weekend was all but done! So, and to their credit, they used their initiative and defied many good judges to idle a qualifying lap that exceeded 40 seconds, but was enough to see Aprile in the draw.

From that point forward he didn’t look back making the A-Main on his qualifying night, where he managed a respectable 13th place finish, before finishing the weekend in 12th place in Sunday’s A-Main.

Aprile is back for more in 2016 with the support of Aprile Industries and Sprint Shack.

Set to make his Classic debut in January is Chris Rodda.

Rodda who has been consistent thus far in his rookie season, he will be at the wheel of his V14 entry with the support of Westvic Sheds and Garages, McDowell Automotive, Superior Cabinetry, Dooley O’Dwyer Plumbing, Stihl Shop Camperdown, L & W Plastering and C1 Speed.
