• Jamie Veal’s strong start to the 2015-16 season continued last night at Sungold Stadium, Premier Speedway, Warrnambool when he claimed his fifth feature race victory on the season, while in the Formula 500 division current Australian Champion Dylan Willsher claimed a second Jack Willsher Cup.

Veal was made to work for his victory, with the racy Sungold Stadium Surface providing plenty of passing, with the battle at the front of the field between Veal and Lines being a highlight.

Having shared the front row of the 30 lap feature event it was Lines who got the jump and led for the first 18 laps despite Veal stalking him all the way.

Further back in the pack David Murcott recovered from earlier contact with James McFadden, to battle with multi-time Australian Champion Brooke Tatnell who was ominous in his first outing for the 2015-16 season in the Krikke Motorsport Cool.

The McFadden and Murcott contact ultimately contributed to McFadden exploding a left rear tyre in turn three on lap nine.

The final 12 laps were all Veal as he sailed away to win from Lines and Tatnell, with Murcott fourth and current Eureka Garages and Sheds Series leader Brett Milburn doing his championship hopes no harm at all with a solid fifth place result.

Warrnambool young gun Corey McCullagh again showed his class with a strong sixth place finish, while rounding out the top ten were Kyle Hirst, Ryan Jones, Ryan Davis and Darren Mollenoyux.

Interestingly Jones, Davis and Mollenoyux were all a lap down to the dominant Veal.

John Vogels again enjoyed a solid night at Premier Speedway finishing 11th, and he was followed home by Charles Hunter, in what was arguably his best performance in memory.

Jye O’Keeffe (13th), Peter Doukas (14th), Adam King (15th), Nick Lacey (16th), Tim Rankin (17th) and James McFadden (18th) completed the field.

Earlier heat race wins went to Steven Lines, Jamie Veal, Tim Rankin, Brett Milburn, James McFadden, Ryan Davis, Tim Van Ginneken, Peter Doukas, Quentin Tanner and Brock Hallett.

The last Chance C-Main was taken out by Stephen Bell, as Bell as joined at the tail of the B-Main by Brock Hallett, Jake Tranter and Ian Loudoun.

The B-Main was won by Darren Mollenoyux, while Adam King, Nick Lacey, John Vogels, Peter Doukas and Ryan Davis also made the transfer to the A-Main.

The 20 lap Jack Willsher Cup for the Formula 500’s was a tale of one man’s pain being another man’s gain as Dylan Willsher was able to claim a second successive victory in the race that means more than any other to the Warrnambool native.

Early race leader and recently crowned Victorian Champion James Aranyosi, dominated the early going only to have a chain come loose aboard the V50 entry.

From here it was all Willsher as he led home Patrick Merrett, who never gave up without a fight and Queensland’s Charlie Brown who again impressed at Premier Speedway.

Earlier heat winners were Josh Buckingham, Ryan O’Keeffe, Lachlan Cates, Patrick Merrett, Charlie Brown and Lisa Walker.

The B-Main was won by Chris Bellman from Rob Trewartha, Matthew Symons and American Michael Faccinto.

The next event at Sungold Stadium, Premier Speedway, Warrnambool will be held on Saturday December 19, 2015 when Round 3 of the USC Victoria will blast into life doubling as Round 6 of the Eureka Garages and Sheds Sprintcar Series.

The night will also feature “Max’s Race” as a tribute to Sprintcar Legend Max Dumesny with another stellar field of Sprintcars expected.

Also on the program will be the prestigious Yeoman Williams Memorial for Junior Sedans.

Tickets are available at the gate or on-line via www.premierspeedway.com.au.

    Ends release.
