Formula 500’s and Street Stocks will feature prominently at Tolmer Speedway Bordertown this season, with three events planned for the bullring.



Opening night is scheduled for November 7, while December 12 and February 5 will round out the three events, this year all being planned as Saturday night events.



Tolmer committee member and spokesman Brad Tink said that experimenting with running Friday and Sunday nights hadn’t really delivered the required results, and so a return to Saturday night events was essential.



“While running on the Friday and Sunday last year helped in ensuring good car counts for some divisions, it hindered other divisions.” Commented Tink.



“While running back to back with other tracks like Murray Bridge is good for national events such as the Speedcar Pro Series, it is not so good for the budget competitor who make up the support program and can only afford to race once a week.”



Consequently the three stand-alone events are all programmed around a variety of club type events this season.



Opening Night on November 7 will feature the Formula 500 Battle of the Border with supports from Late Models, AMCA Nationals, V6 Sprints, Street Stocks, Limited Sportsman and Junior Sedans.



The SA Street Stock Title will be conducted on December 12, with strong numbers from both SA and Victoria indicating they will attend. Wingless Sprints and Super Sedans will lead the supports that will also include Junior Sedans, Formula 500’s and Limited Sportsman.



The final event will feature Formula 500’s and Street Stocks in a double billing. The MJS Street Stock Series and Victorian based Formula 500 Stampede Series will both draw good competitor numbers, while the V6 Sprints, Limited Sportsman and Junior Sedans will also run for the final time.



A notable absence are the Sprintcars and Speedcars with the track opting to plan for a bigger event for sprintcars the following season.
