• Alexandra Speedway provided plenty of action for motorsport fans on Saturday night with Sedans & Wingless Sprints providing plenty of entertainment which included stewards penalties, crashes & laughs whilst Jessica Moulden, Damien Miller & the Domburg's were the major event winners.

Wingless Sprints Victoria brought their ‘Ladies of the Dirt’ Challenge supporting the McGrath Foundation awareness program to the venue & Jessica Moulden ran out winner after she was able to get the better of strong challenges from Sandie Hickman & Shona Bent. Te-arni Perkins who began in last place for the final having secured a drive in a second car after her own suffered mechanical malfunction finished in fourth placed ahead of Skye Day.

Earlier Sarah Robilliard from over Warrnambool way, had a serious full speed accident with her car slamming the turn four concrete wall rear end first causing considerable pain to her back & legs whilst some of her vital signs were on & off. Robilliard recieved the best care she could from the local volunteer crash crew as she was cut out of the race car with the jaws, before the Ambulance Victoria Air Wing flew her to the Alfred Hospital. News now can confirm that Sarah is at home resting & with clearance to any long term injuries.

New South Wales visitor Chris McInerney won the ‘Open Wingless’ final which allowed male drivers to compete. McInerney was too good for David Alford, Kelvin Toogood, Warrick Taylor & Ross Jarred in the final over fifteen laps.

Sports Sedan competition was dominated by the ‘Big Show’ Damien Miller having won his three heats before motoring on to a win in the final ahead of his brother Brendan who runs with the nickname ‘Lil Show’. Matty Ridd a local in the Murrindindi shire finished a strong third ahead of Alexandra based driver Luke Fallon & Tim McPherson the first Ford driver to finish.

‘Big Show’ who has a car that meet’s specifications of two divisions, the other being the Unlimited Sedans also won all three heats before he won the final in front of his brother again, Darren Nelson, Fallon & McPherson.

National Junior Sedan competitors had the best feature race of the night when Jackson Lunt & Healesville’s Cameron Pearson traded positions before Lunt scored a fantastic win ahead of Pearson, Caleb Lincoln, Ricky Cornwall & Wayne Furmston.

The Standard Saloon for all-comers & the Open Ladies Sedans features were not run however Dale Morrison & Warrick Howie tied for equal points in the Standard Saloons & Woori Yallock’s Sonia Nelson was too good for the girls.

A new concept for Standard Saloons was the creation of a ‘Bonnie & Clyde’ race for a male driver paired with a female, driving the same car for a feature race each before a team was declared the winner. This involved a stoppage between sections to allow a driver change.

An event created for fun it really didn’t matter too much who won, however teams were keen to get their hands on the trophy & the top three were husband & wife duo Paul & Hanna Domburg, then couple Warrick Howie & Jaimi Barber & husband & wife combination Aaron & Sarah Meakins.

Alexandra Speedway now has a couple weeks off before the annual 100 Lap Derby weekend over Queens Birthday. Forty drivers will automatically qualify for the 100 lap feature & the other sixty that miss out have a chance to buy their way into the race with one of four places.
The SSA Junior Sedans will compete in the Victorian Short Circuit Championship which doubles as a state series points round & the Standard Saloons will compete in the Shamrock Cup supported by the local Shamrock Hotel.
