• A massive night of motorsport entertainment will feature at Ausdeck Patios Archerfield Speedway this Saturday night (May 2) when THREE monster trucks are unleashed for another bout of car-crushing, wheel-standing mayhem. The antics of these insane Monster Trucks will only be one element of a massive program that also includes round three of the East Coast Logistics Crispy Memorial Sprintcar Series, the final round of the Tyrepower Formula 500 Series and the Queensland Lightning Sprint Championship, along with Modlites and a massive fireworks show.

Two-time Australian Sprintcar champion James McFadden will be looking to expand his lead in the Crispy Memorial Series, having taken out the first completed round two weeks ago in a somewhat emphatic demonstration of his considerable skills. Indisputably one of Australia’s finest Sprintcar exponents, McFadden blitzed the field in the previous round, finishing ahead of Andrew Scheuerle and North Queensland’s Brent Aprile, both of whom will be back in action again this Saturday.

Also back this weekend and no doubt determined to make amends for an atypical performance at the previous round is David Murcott, the man who currently sits atop the Sprintcar totem as the reigning national champion. Murcott, as is to be expected, has been a feature race winner at Archerfield this season and will be desperate to avenge his early exit from the previous round in the best possible way; a return to victory lane.

All of the regular Archerfield racers will be in action including the in-form Bryan Mann, who took out the Supercheap Auto Series and finished fourth here two weeks ago. Also confirmed starters for this weekend are Brent Kratzmann, Kevin Titman, Tasmania’s Jamie Bricknell, rookie Mitchell Gee and Darren Jensen, all more whom finished inside the top ten at the previous round. Throw in the likes of Toowoomba’s Peter Lack, who already has an Archerfield feature race win to his credit this season, along with Ben Hilder, Mick Sauer and more than 15 other competitors and you have all the necessary ingredients for a feast of Sprintcar action.

The Tyrepower Formula 500 Series will feature a three-way fight for the championship with just 23 points separating the leading trio. Heading into the 12th and final round of competition, Kristin Brown currently sits atop the series standings with 660 points but, having failed to finish the previous round after becoming the innocent victim in an opening lap skirmish, she is now only 9 points ahead of her brother Charlie, who went on to win while Kristin watched from the infield. Queensland champion Kaydon Iverson occupies third spot on 651 points and will need to upstage both of the Brown siblings if he is to snatch a series win, setting the scene for a thrilling finale. Brooke Wanless sits fourth overall and Scott Farmer is currently fifth and while both are capable of upstaging the top trio and taking out the feature event, they are too far adrift in the points to challenge for the championship.

Not surprisingly, Lightning Sprints have gathered their biggest field for the season to contest their state championship with Toowoomba’s Scott Genrich facing off against 20 rivals in his title defence. Lismore’s Kurt Wilson looms as a huge threat, along with Sydney speedsters Matt Geering and DJ Raw, while local aces such as Kirsty Kelly, Peter Campbell, Jim Kennedy and Sean Iacono will also be strong contenders.

Modlites have again secured a big entry list with 20 competitors nominated, ensuring another huge night of racing at Queensland’s home of speedway. Monster Trucks, Speedway and Fireworks – what a way to spend Saturday night!

Gates open 4:00pm, with online ticketholders securing early entry from 3:30pm. Racing commences at 4:30pm, with the Sprintcars hitting the track for time trials at 5:10pm. The Monster Trucks will make their first appearance at 6:15pm and return throughout the night. Adult tickets are $30 and a family pass for two adults and two children is just $80. Online tickets are available for purchase until 2:00pm on the day of the event.

East Coast Logistics Crispy Memorial Series progressive pointscore (top ten): James McFadden 64, Brent Aprile 58, Bryan Mann 58, Andrew Scheuerle 57, Kevin Titman 52, Brent Kratzmann 49, Jamie Bricknell 45, Darren Jensen 36, Melissa Boyes 36, Richard Morgan 35
