• What can we say other than we are totally gutted at present, added Car Owner Peter Mitchell after the latest round of the Supercheap Auto Track Championship at the Archerfield Speedway last weekend. After a promising start to the night the Mitchell Motorsport Team have been left with a considerable amount of damage to their #19 Eagle Ignition Leads Eagle and there is not a lot of time to fix it before their next scheduled event in Sydney.

After qualifying as the fastest driver in his group, and timing in fifth overall in the 32 car field, the night got off to a positive start for Team Driver Terry Bracken and after starting his first heat from position seven and finishing sixth Terry was well and truly on track for a top six starting position in the A-Main.

During the second round of heats Terry once again started from position seven and he was looking good for another strong finish until a spinning car could not be avoided resulting in front end damage and a disappointing DNF.

“How your fortunes can change in a blink. One minute we are looking to start in the top six, next minute Terry is relegated to the B from someone else’s mistake” comment Peter Mitchell.

The B main was over twenty laps due to the strong eighteen car field and the race was run on a very slick surface. Terry started the last chance qualifier from position one with Terry ultimately securing third spot and a transfer spot into the 30 lap A main.

The track during the B-Main proved to be quite abrasive as the right hand rear (RHR) tyre used in the B, whilst not completely new, had no tread left at the end of the race and would only have done a few more laps at best.

After starting the A-Main from position seventeen he began the race in a steady and fashion and started to move forward towards the latter stages of the race. Just as Terry began to find his groove contact was unfortunately made with another car that moved up track on the back straight. This sent Terry into a series of vicious rolls, ultimately making contact with the concrete wall on top of the roll cage.

“Fortunately, the Eagle chassis did its job. Terry is bruised and sore, but thankfully has no permanent injuries. The team faces an enormous task to be ready for the 27th, although ultimately we will do everything possible to fulfil our sponsorship obligations. Our sincere thanks to all those that came to the truck after the meeting to inquire about Terry, to those who phoned, and especially those who have offered our team parts and equipment to assist in the rebuilding process” commented an appreciative Peter Mitchell.

Mitchell Motorsport would like to thank their valuable partners in Eagle Ignition Leads, Wesfil Filters, Penrite Oils, KRE Race Engines, Dryden Signs, Eagle Motorsports, BMRS Hose/Fittings, Globe Shoes, FXD Clothing, Gearwrench Tools and Bolt King.
