• Gillman Speedway Manager David Parker today announced K Trans WA as the major sponsor for the 2013 Australian Sidecar Championship which will be held at the Gillman Speedway Stadium in March next year.

Speaking from Perth where the deal took place, Parker said “I am really excited. After talks with the owner, Keith Middleton, and General Manager, Lindsay Middleton, of K Trans I am happy to confirm as early as this that the Championship will be called, the 2013 K TRANS AUSTRALIAN SPEEDWAY SIDECAR CHAMPIONSHIP”.

“K Trans WA specialise in transportation of huge pipes for mine sites and general freight” said Parker, “They now have a depot in South Australia and cater for anything that needs to be shifted by semi-trailer or road train all over Australia. This is a huge boost for Sidecar Speedway and I am sure the Ikon Suspension Sidecar Grand Slam was a stepping stone to get coverage on TV that secured this sponsorship”.

K Trans owner Keith Middleton stated, “I have seen the Gillman Stadium when they ran the 2011 Australian Sidecar Championship and thought that it was a brilliant meeting and when Dave approached my company, I had no hesitation putting K Trans WA up front as naming right sponsor for this event.

“We now have a depot in Adelaide and believe that we can increase awareness of our company and bring our customers to Gillman through the season. It is a terrific venue and they put on a fantastic show, and if the 2013 Championship is as good as the 2011 one, I will be very happy with our investment.

“K Trans had a minor involvement with Gillman Speedway last season as a sponsor of one of the Airfence Safety System panels, and I hope that this is just a start of things to come for the future.”

The 2013 Championship will be held at Easter, with the Qualifying meeting on Saturday 30 March, and the Championship Final on Sunday 31 March.

Meanwhile, in other Sidecar news, Motorcycling Australia has announced that the 2012 Australian Championship, aborted because of track conditions at Maryborough last month, will take place at the Kurri Kurri Speedway, in New South Wales, on Saturday night, 29 September 2012, with the Pairs Championship the following night.
