• Following a strong recent showing current Australian Champion Jock Goodyer will enter the 2024 Locked Down Australian Sprintcar Championship as one of the pre-event favourites following his top five run at the Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic at Warrnambool.

Having captured the Speedweek Series Championship, on the back of three straight victories and the Red-Hot Summer Shootout, along with further victories at Murray Bridge, Latrobe and at Premier Speedway, Goodyer will enter his Title defence as one of the form drivers in Australia right now.

Winning the Australian Championship back-to-back is always a tough assignment but not an impossible task with the likes of David Murcott and Kerry Madsen achieving the feat in recent years. One thing in Goodyer’s favour is the fact the Warrnambool is now considered a home track with the team now being based within the township.

Joining Goodyer from the “Apple Isle” will be Tate Frost, Jamie Bricknell, Brody Appleby, Chad Gardner, Chris Johns and veteran Tim Hutchins.

Of the other Tasmanian contenders Tate Frost is another of the new generation of Sprintcar stars who is capable of winning, as proven a year ago with a win on the opening night of the Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic. After starting his season in Darwin Frost made a late start to the southern season with a podium result at Murray Bridge before claiming an SRA Feature win at Simpson.

Both Frost and Jamie Bricknell just failed to transfer into the 2024 Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic A-main, as they filled the reserve positions.

The 2024 Locked Down Australian Sprintcar Championship will be held at the Premier Speedway in Warrnambool this weekend with the event beginning on Friday January 26 before the Championship finale on Saturday night (January 27).
