• The last time that both Mark and Steven Caruso competed in the same race at the Murray Machining and Sheds Murray Bridge in their 360ci powered Sprintcars they made contact while going for the lead. The crash wasn’t in a heat race, it wasn’t early in the A-Main, it was in the final corner of a 30-lap Allstars Main Event.

On that occasion Steven went on win while older Brother Mark watched the final restart from the infield. This weekend the Caruso Motorsport Team will looking for repeat performance, both cars racing for an Australian Championship 1-2, but this time without the contact!

But on a serious note, both Mark and Steven will be legitimate Title contenders and there will be very few rivals in the field with as many laps around the tight Murray Bridge bullring as the Caruso Brothers.

This season Steven has been one of the most consistent South Australian Sprintcar drivers across both 360ci and 410ci competition with an A-Main victory (360ci) and three top five results in his 410ci car, including a podium result in February at Murray Bridge.

This season Mark has solely concentrated on 360ci (Prosprint) events with a victory at the Western Speedway in Hamilton and an overall series lead in the Allstars. In the past Mark has finished third in the Australian 360ci Sprintcar Championship on two occasions and was fourth at the Simpson Speedway in March 2020.

Both of the immaculate Caruso machines look identical, other than the #33 and the #10 on the top wings and tail tanks, so after this weekend it may become a little easier to tell who’s who if one of these talented racers become Australia #1, and there is a real possibility that could easily happen.

The 2023 Australian Prosprints Championship will be conducted at the Murray Machining and Sheds Murray Bridge Speedway between March 23 – 25, 2023.
