• This Easter Sunday (March 27) night pack your chocolate eggs and Easter goodies in a basket and head out to Adelaide’s Speedway City for what will be a great Family Night out with the running of the annual “Easter Thrillerama”. This year’s event will feature the inaugural Jack Daniels South Australian Legend Car Championship, Wingless Sprints, Speedcars, Junior Sedans, Street Stocks, V6 Sprints, a Monster Fireworks Display and the always popular and hilarious National Karate Academies Caravan Boat and Dunny Derby. Over the years this event has become a tradition at Speedway City and it regularly attracts one of the biggest crowds of the season so if you plan to attend make sure you arrive early so you are not disappointed.

The Legend Car State Title has attracted a line-up of 24 drivers from across New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory so the racing should be intense as they battle for the right to be called the South Australian Champion. Legend Cars are based on American Hot Rods from the 1930’s and 1940’s but they are only 5/8th the size of the original automobiles that they resemble. Over the past few years the “Legends” have proven to be very popular at the Valvoline Raceway in Sydney and now it South Australia’s turn to witness their exciting brand of dirt track racing.

Sharing top billing for the event this Sunday will be The Speedway Shop Speedcar Stampede and the Jack Daniel’s Wingless Sprint Easter Cup and the MJS Tree & Stump Junior Sedan Easter Cup.

The Speedcar Stampede will unfortunately only have a small but quality field present but there will see some great drivers on hand including Ben Hall, last weekend’s South Australian Championship runner-up Todd Bennett, Jamie Crouch, Nathan Squiers, Western Australian Brad Warwick and Anthony Chaffey from Queensland.

The Wingless Sprints will be strongly represented with a field of 17 cars but they will all be chasing one man, South Australian Champion Joel Chadwick, who will be out to defend his unbeaten run at the venue this season. But if the most recent events are anything to go by Spencer Taylor, Jake Ashworth and Brett Ireland are the most likely challengers although the real wild card in the field will be the return of the highly talented Chris Ferrall.

The Junior Sedans will also have a strong field present for their Easter Cup with 16 entries including Heath and Nathan Thorne, Mac Caldecott, Kye Richardson, Drew Flatman Sharni and Tamika Pitcher,

Ashlee McEwin, Makayla Maxwell, Bradley and Tegan Sheridan, Josh and Lachie Gwynne and the Richter's from the Riverland (Tom, Dylan and Jake). Speedway City would like to thank Mark Simister from MJS Tree & Stump for sponsoring the Juniors.

The final racing categories include the return of the V6 Sprints are a lengthy absence and one of the biggest Street Stock fields of the current season with 18 nominations including Darren Flatman, Paul Hayes, Neville Nitschke, Sam Brumfield, Matt Maynard and Western Australian Damon Thomson.

Last but not least the Caravan, Boat and Dunny Derby with 14 drivers that will litter the race track with debris in a huge crash and bash finale to what should be a massive Easter Family night at the Home of South Australian Speedway, and remember Children 11 years and under are FREE when accompanied by a paying Adult. The Monster Fireworks Display will light up the sky around 8:30pm.

    General Admission Prices... Adults: $25 Concession: $20, 12-15 years: $15 11 & Under: FREE Programme: $5
