• After finishing as the runner-up in the Australian Sprintcar Title at the Perth Motorplex Gold Coast racer Lachlan McHugh has teamed up with South Australian Car Owner Chris Evans for a tilt at the Australian Prosprints Championship at the Murray Bridge Speedway later this month.

“I haven’t actually met Chris before but an opportunity came up to drive his car at the Australian Championship so I said why not. The deal has been put together behind the scenes and I haven’t really had anything to do with it but I’m looking forward to racing at Murray Bridge again. After finishing second in Perth it gives me another shot at winning an Australian Championship so let’s hope I can go one spot better at Murray Bridge” added McHugh when we spoke shortly after the National Title at the Perth Motorplex.

If McHugh was to be successful at Murray Bridge, in either the Preliminary or the Championship A-Main, it would be his first feature race victory at Murray Bridge having been the runner-up on several occasions.

The Team that McHugh will drive for, Evans Family Motorsport, has previously claimed two South Australian 360ci Sprintcar Championships and finished fourth in the 2019 Australian 360ci Sprintcar Championship at the Kalgoorlie Speedway with South Australian Dan Evans behind the wheel. McHugh will campaign the number #77, which is something that he is pleased about due to his association with the number 7.

The 2023 Australian Prosprints Championship will be conducted at the Murray Machining and Sheds Murray Bridge Speedway between March 23 – 25, 2023. With nominations now closed the official entry list stands at 27 drivers from six Australian states.
