  • The East Coast campaign by West Australian Super Sedan driver, Gary Higgs is over, after a spectacular crash at the Solo Hobart Speedway on Saturday night, while competing in the Schweppes Super Sedan Grand National.

    After a much publicised crash of former two time National Champion, Callum Harper in the opening heat race of the night, who rolled heavily in the opening turn, Gary Higgs, would then be involved an equally spectacular crash in the heat that followed in the same turn.

    In a tightly bunched field heading into turn one, contact launched Higgs into the air, rolling two and a half times, landing on its roof.

    “The Chassis is fine and it did its job”, said car owner Dustin Higgs. “Gary is a bit sore but ok, but it will mean the end of our campaign on the East Coast. We will bring the car back to Perth, it will require a brand new body, and we will check he engine over properly, and now focus on Albany at Easter”, said Higgs.

    Higgs to this point had solid results, finishing in the top ten at every event, which included top five results as well in Queensland to start the campaign.

    Night two of the Grand National will be held on Sunday night.
