• After numerous false starts due to the unseasonal spring weather in Victoria, the Eureka Garages and Sheds Sprintcar series finally kicks off this Saturday night, December 3 at Wangaratta Speedway with a great mix of entries battling for series points.

Furthermore the Sprintcar Racing Association get a chance to celebrate the 20th anniversary series with Eureka Garages and Sheds as the naming rights partner to the series.

While the popular belief is that if you can finish ahead of the familiar Anderson Motorsport #37 of Grant Anderson then you will most likely win the round, the outcome is far from set in stone.

Hailing from Albury just minutes up the Hume freeway, Grant Anderson has amassed numerous feature wins throughout his stellar career and comes back to the Eureka Garages and Sheds Sprintcar series this season off the back of a runner up finish in last year’s championship.

Leading the contenders attempting to upset the expert tipsters will be three time series champ Brett Milburn. While traditionally a slow starter in the series, for the past decade Milburn has been a contender come series end and this season will be no different.

Exciting additions to Saturday night’s field include Tasmanian speedster and corresponding round winner last season, Tim Hutchins while seven time series champ Matthew Reed is always a welcome addition.

Regular top 10 series contenders Bobby Daly, Terry Rankin and Jordyn Charge will also be ready to rack up some early series points at Wangaratta as they look to build an early series advantage.

Also adding spice to the entries are Chris Solomon, Brayden Parr and last season’s Rookie of the Year Ashley Cook who will look to build on a strong debut season in the SRA ranks.

Off the back of some USA experience during our off season both Mitch Smith and ‘Fast’ Eddie Lumbar will be looking to translate that seat time into a good finish Saturday night.

Numerous series rookies are set to make their debut at Wangaratta while all are no stranger to speedway racing with a wealth of experience in other divisions. Formula 500 star Jordy Rae looks to unveil his new look Sprintcar as too will David Dennison and V8 Dirt Modified racer Brett Clark in the Painter Motorsport #33.

Another rookie inclusion will be New South Wales Wingless racer William Lucas who will make his series debut with ample support from Andrew Starkey and the professional ASR team based out of Sydney.

There’s no doubt the first race of the series will bring high hopes for success as Paul Solomon, Andy Hughes, Stephen Spark, Kevin Reeves and David Aldersley will all tackle the Wangaratta round this Saturday night.

All drivers at this stage will contest time trials, a pair of heat races each while a last chance B-main and the A-main will round out the Sprintcar events on the program.

Sprintcars will be on track at approximately 5pm this Saturday night at Wangaratta Speedway in what will be an exciting start to the 2022/23 Eureka Garages and Sheds Sprintcar Series.
