• East Gippsland racer Tim McKenzie having recently taken ownership of one of the proven best race cars in the Limited Sportsman category in Victoria, and cannot wait for the next Speedway season to arrive so he can put himself to the test behind the wheel of the car driven to second place at last season’s Victorian title.

With everybody waiting for life to turn back to normal and Covid to be a distance memory, McKenzie has already had his new race machine wrapped with new graphics to promote his existing sponsor decals. He has checked over the new car piece by piece and is getting himself ready for a run at what he hopes is the front of the field on a regular basis at Bairnsdale, Rosedale and wherever his season takes him.

The Bairnsdale registered race driver is has early intentions to compete at the Victorian and the South Australian state titles, the Les McMaster Memorial and the Kevin Baker Challenge along with whatever local feature events and club shows are scheduled.

Outsiders admit this is a terrific car and Tim in his old equipment up to last season has shown developing skill behind the wheel of an older model machine. His is Tim’s expectations of himself in the coming season with the new car. “I know that I have become more consistent in my lap speed in the old car and I know my lines away the regular tracks we go to. No doubt there is more speed in the new car Lindsay has sold me. I believe if we aim for regular podium finishes at home and top 10 results over at Hamilton, Horsham, and Portland then we are heading in the right direction. Anything above that would be special and I would set new goals at the time. “Shared McKenzie.

The team is open to discussion for any business who wishes to contribute to the deal. “We know that the financial climate is tough right now for business. So, we would be particularly interested in business who has product we can use that they need to give away and for anybody who can let me put equipment we need onto their account to be paid for. Fuel or a fuel card, paying our tyre purchases through the season, paying accommodation on business account card, the list is endless just have a chat with me. “Shared McKenzie.

You can contact Tim on Facebook if you are reading this on social media or email Dean Thompson and he can give your details through to Tim.
