• Nominations for the 2020 Australian Wingless Sprint Championship are still coming in and currently of the 25 drivers nominated the field includes three Victorian based Families who will make the trek across the arbor with multiple driver entries. These include the Storer’s from Portland, the Walsh’s from Cobden and the Moule’s from Pakenham in Melbourne.

Both Daniel and Luke Storer will head into the event as a couple of the pre-race favourites as they both have formidable resumes having won some of the biggest races the class has to offer in recent years. The team also presents two of the best-looking race cars in the category with the backing of oil giants Castrol.

Although they are yet to win the Australian Championship Daniel came close in 2017 with a third placed run at the Carrick Speedway in Tasmania and he is the current South Australian Champion after a late charge at the Murray Machining and Sheds Speedway last season.

His Brother Luke is also a current State Champion having picked up the Victorian Championship at Avalon, while he was also the runner-up to Daniel in an historic 1-2 finish in SA. Luke has also spent the last couple of weeks racing in Western Australia to adapt to the bigger racetracks with a second placing at the Perth Motorplex last Saturday night. Prior to the runner-up finish he also picked up a feature race victory at Collie, therefore he will enter the Australian Title full of confidence.

Young Cobden racers Carly and Blake Walsh will also make the long journey to Kalgoorlie for the Championship. Recently Carly has been spending time racing both Wingless and 410ci Sprintcars including an impressive run at the Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic. Carly is also a previous feature winner in the “Ladies of the Dirt” series at the Mid-Western Speedway at Darlington and the Laang Speedway.

Her younger Brother Blake has already had a busy season having competed in Darwin during the off season along with a visit to Murray Bridge at the season opener.

“I’m hoping for a good weekend and just getting a good result. I’m always looking forward to racing at a new track. I’ve travelled to Darwin and Murray Bridge already this season so I’m looking forward to racing at Kalgoorlie as well” added Blake recently.

Carly and Blake will race with the support of Mental Transport. LPS, Tarra Valley Towing and Chemblast.

The final Family pairing is the Father and Daughter duo of Tony and Jade Moule. Tony is a veteran of the sport having raced in numerous categories including V8 Dirt Modifieds and Sprintcars, but Jade is a relative newcomer to the Wingless Sprint class.

Tony is no stranger to the “Red Clay” in Kalgoorlie having captured the 2007 Australian 360ci Sprintcar Championship at the venue. He is also currently Victoria #2 in the Wingless Sprints. Tony will drive for car owner Travis Evans in the Latrobe Waste & Recycling / MCF Trailers #30.

Daughter Jade Moule is a regular competitor throughout Victoria in the Ladies of the Dirt Series and she will no doubt gain great experience in the west as she pilots her Mainline Dynolog Dynamometers #18.

The Australian Wingless Sprint Championship will take place at the Watson’s Express Kalgoorlie Speedway between February 28 and March 1, 2020.
