• It was a tough home-coming for Kemble Aylett on the first night of the Super Sedan Grand Prix, at the Gulf Western and Independent Oils Raceway, Latrobe on Friday night.

Aylett first featured on track in heat two, with a third row starting position, quickly moving into fifth place behind Corey Smith. Aylett would remain fifth until lap seven, before a small error saw him drop to seventh, recovering to finish six on the last lap.

In heat five, Aylett would get a flying start, immediately taking the lead, but a stoppage on the opening lap, resulted in a compete re-start. At the second time of asking, Kym Jury who started on pole, who run side by side with Aylett through the opening lap, but resultant contact with another car in close confines, put Aylett into the fence, and if contact wasn’t bad enough, Aylett was then collected on the way through by the cars at the back of the field.

Remarkably, Aylett was able to get the car out for heat ten, however, the car handled horribly as a result of the earlier crash, with Aylett finishing sixth.

After three qualifying heats, Aylett would start at the back of the second Preliminary Final, and with some set up changes made, Aylett made some excellent progress through the field, in a fast and closely run Feature Race. Aylett would finish eighth, only 4.267 off the winner, Darren Kane.

On the upside for Aylett, it was the first Feature Race of the season he has been able to complete, albeit with a car that was far from good, and will be working over-time on Saturday to get the car handling correctly for night two of the Grand Prix.
