The 1997 Classic has long been regarded as one of the most memorable, for any number of reasons, but none more so than for the now iconic images of an elated Trevor Green alighting from the Green Brothers Racing S4 as the Classic Champion.

Now as Green Brothers Racing celebrates 30 years of Racing, Trevor is filling the more recent role as car-owner for Sacramento, California’s Kalib Henry, who will make his first appearance at the Classic as a part of a strong contingent of American drivers.

In 2019 alone 20-year-old Henry has been in high demand, running in a variety of different events for as many as six different car owners, with three of those six car owners being able to see their car in victory lane with thanks to their young drivers talent.

Having finished second in the Placerville Track Championship points in 2019, Henry’s season featured 10 Quick Time awards, 19 top fives and 31 top ten results – not bad for someone competing in the Sprintcar hot bed that is California.

His career began, as many of the most talented Californian’s have, in Outlaw Karts and for his trip to Australia he will have the support of his father Mike, a former racer himself, who will no exactly what Kalib wants in the car, while Trevor’s knowledge of Australian Tracks and racing strategy will be invaluable.

For their tilt at the Classic the immaculate Green Bros. Racing USA4 will have the support of ADRAD, Freightmaster, Lewiston Haulage and Maxwill Racing Engines.

While a strong contingent of American’s continues to grow for the Classic weekend, the local talent pool continues to grow with entry numbers already surpassing 70 cars.

With Green having for so long campaigned the S4 entry, it is fitting that Lisa Walker also nominates for the Classic at this time.

Walker is hugely talented and a natural crowd favourite and will again have the Action Line Marking, Devil Race Karts, North East ISUZU and Iveco, Tatiara Truck and Trailers, Ennis-Flint, Gourmet Poultry and Develo_Pro Triple X ready to roll.

West Australian speedster Ben Ellement is another set to make the trek across the abor as he looks to campaign the Mat Muir owned W53 entry.

Ellement last contested the Classic 2017, where he managed a B-Main finish.

In 2020 Mat Muir and Ben Ellement and the team come to Warrnambool with some solid performances under their belts and with the support of Territory Plant Hire, National Karate Academies, South West Conveyancing, United Fluid Power, MMS Civil and Dicko’s Welding.

Sydney’s Daniel Sayre is another of the New South Welshman returning to the Classic in the always immaculately presented N16 entry.

Sayre will come to the Classic for Aussie Forklifts, Endeavour Liquid Waste, Atlantic Oil. C & S Engineering and Toolmaking and PASS Powdercoating.

Popular Eureka Sprintcar Series regular Eddie Lumbar will again attempt to tame the Classic aboard the N36 Scott Inglis powered Eagle.

Lumbar has endured a love-hate relationship with the Classic over his career, however he will aim to put his best foot forward for his partners Steelpipes Australia, Roundabout Tyres, Graham Thomson Motors and Halmark Tyres.

Tasmanian Kurt Luttrell returns to Mainland Sprintcar competition for the 2020 South West Conveyancing Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic with the hard charging Luttrell set to pilot the Challenge Motors Service Centre, Oval Track Services and Fuchs Oil, T45 Eagle against Australia’s best.

Allansford’s very own Jake Smith is amongst the latest batch of Victorian’s to commit to the rapidly approaching Classic.

Smith who recently returned from injury has shown exceptional car speed of late and will be looking to lock the V72 Mepunga Grains, Warrnambool Goodyear, Dairytech Nutrition and Chris Smith Concreting Maxim into the show.

One local driver that has been a model of consistency on the back of some excellent qualifying runs is Warrnambool’s Robbie Paton.

Paton who missed the 2019 Classic through injury will enjoy the familiar surroundings of his home track as he wheels the Ab-Tech Plumbing and Excavation Triple X into action.

Charles Hunter is back and wil again campaign the beautifully presented Heath Hunter Motorsport V73 Maxim with a KRE Race Engine providing the horses!!

The team will be running for Paintworx, Buzzard Engineering, Main Street Caf�, Winchelsea, RAK Davis Contracting, Willis and Benson, Elements Decks and Gardens, Translog, Hoppers Stoppers, Parr Motorsport and SWIVVS Lockers.

Charles finished 7th in B-Main in 2019.

Another driver who didn’t contest the Classic in 2019 but is locked in for action this year is the driver of the VA75 ART Chassis David Donegan.

Donegan has found his feet in the Eureka Sprintcar Series over the past couple of seasons and in more recent times has visited Sydney Speedway to further hone his craft.

For the Classic the team will have backing from Outer Eastern Steel, Donnaz Undergrounds, Prostyle Carpentry and Mintbuild Australia.
