Gary Higgs has finished second in one of two Preliminary A Mains at the Mothar Mountain Speedway, Gympie on Boxing Night, which was the opening night of three consecutive nights of racing in the Super Sedan Summer Slam.

If any track was ever going to be a handful for Higgs, it would be the unique layout of the Gympie circuit, however, Higgs was not only on the pace, but finished in the top three in all of his heats and started on the front row for the first twenty lap Preliminary A Main.

Higgs was beaten off the start by eventual winner, Matty Pascoe, and remained in second place throughout, holding off Tyson Moon in the concluding stages in a close finish.

Earlier, Higgs had just four laps to adapt to the layout, finishing 18th in Hot Laps, but he put those laps to good use, with Higgs finishing third in his opening heat.

Meanwhile, Higgs moved forward in heat four finishing a close second behind Sam Roza, while in his final heat, Higgs again would finish second.

In finishing second in the Preliminary A Main, Higgs has plenty of confidence going into the second night of the Summer Slam, again to be held at the Gympie venue. The Preliminary A Mains were won by Matt Pascoe and Sean Black. Higgs is just ten points off the lead in the series with Pascoe and Black both on 183 points.
