This Saturday night the Redline Raceway season opens with over one hundred competitors keen to entertain an enthusiastic motorsport public after a delay to the season’s start this year. In action will be the visiting Sprintcars, Compact Speedcars, AMCA Nationals, Vintage Sedans and Junior Sedan Promotional Association whilst club action will come from the Street Stocks.

The Sprintcars have eighteen competitors nominated with drivers such as Shane Steenholdt a recent winner in Bairnsdale, Adam Greenwood, Alistair Bastian, David McKay, David Dennison and Dillon Siely amongst the top racers. There will be a bit of a local flavour this season in the Sprintcars with regular Ballarat and Redline race drivers Steven Horton, Matt Grist and Steve Hodder amongst the line-up.

There should be some thrilling racing on the wide open Redline Raceway for those things with wings.

The Junior Sedan competition will be on to be victorious in the ‘Piston Cup’ for Top Stars and New Stars with over thirty kids nominated. In Top Star action Ballarat locals Jaxson Vella and Darcy Wilson will face tough competition from Ben and Darcy Micallef, Bradin Claridge, Chloe Sheerman, Linken Paterson, Jayden Bryant and Rhys Meakins amongst others. Most of the competitors in the class are racing 1500cc Lancer’s or Excels.

In the New Star class where there is still a lot of Corolla’s and Datsun’s in the field Ballarat racer Bailey Rumler stands out, as does River Paterson, Seth Sloane and Dylan Barrow.

The AMCA Nationals field will include the current Victorian Champion Tim Reidy and Dean Heseltine whom he has had a string of close battles with at Redline. Paul Sullivan, Neale Peachey and Sharon Tindal are others to keep an eye on.

Compact Speedcar competition will come from Ash Booker, Louis Rodriguez, Justin Paull and Daniel James in the 1000cc powered category. The cars are tremendously quick on a smooth track at Redline.

The Street Stock field is stacked with super-fast competitors. A paragraph of names could be written, and we would still miss out a name just as likely to win the final. A few drivers to watch include Dean Jenkins, Brooke Ferguson, Brad McClure, Jason Degoldi, Matt Nelson, Jayden Blomeley, Lenny Bates and Tim Hutchinson. If you blink, you will miss something.

Also included in the night’s entertainment is some Vintage Sedans that will have a squirt and bring back some memories for fans.

Gates to the public open at 2pm, aiming for a 4.30pm race meeting start.

Entry is Adults $25 & Pensioners $20 Kids 6 to the age of 16 $5 or a family $60 (2 adults & 4 Kids) fully catered venue, no BYO as per law.
