• The 2019-20 season for Jordyn Charge reached a whole new level on Saturday night at Hamilton’s Western Speedway after a dominant performance during the Gold Cup event for 360 Sprintcars.

In a showing where he didn’t put a foot wrong, the 20-year-old racer from Melton, Victoria started the night in the best possible fashion by topping the time sheets in qualifying, and he then was able to back up that form with an unbeaten run during his two heat races.

By virtue of these outstanding qualifying performances, Charge started from pole position in the feature race armed with bolstered confidence. After jumping the original start, he didn’t make the same mistake twice and powered to the lead. Once out in front, he controlled the pace for the entire 15-lap distance and went on to record a comfortable win.

For Charge, winning the Gold Cup event in such a strong fashion made the night even more memorable at the Western Speedway track, which was the same venue where he sensationally captured the Victorian 360 Sprintcar Title victory back in the 2016-17 season.

“Any time where you can come away with the win is fantastic, but to do it in the fashion that I did made it even more satisfying,” commented the Vic # 60 Western Nissan - Caroline Springs supported Triple X racer, who makes selected 360 Sprintcar appearances around his 410 Sprintcar commitments.

“My team provided me with a great car from the beginning of the night through to the end, so it was pleasing to be able to hold up my end of the bargain by driving it to victory.”

Charge continued by saying that aside from his hard-working pit crew members, his supporter base is just as important.

“None of this success would be possible without the wonderful support from my family, in particular my parents (Danielle and Mark),” he expressed.

“To finish the night with a win is one of the best ways to thank not only my pit crew, but my sponsors, my family and my supporters in the crowd.”

Charge’s next outing will see him return to 410 Sprintcar competition for this Saturday night’s fifth Eureka Garages & Sheds Series round at Wangaratta City Speedway in the north-east of Victoria.

“I’m really looking forward to stepping back into the 410 this weekend, as I have a lot of added confidence following last weekend’s win and hopefully I can continue this good form,” concluded Charge, who sits ninth in the current Eureka Garages & Sheds Series point standings.

Charge would like to thank his 2019-20 season sponsors: Western Nissan - Caroline Springs, Western Highway Honda, Mr Electric, Wil’s Auto Melton, Trev’s Removal and Cleaning Services, Footscray Engine Reconditioning, Melbourne Accident Repair Centre, Australian Racing Products, Adam Brand, Reed Signs, and Event Pix Photobooth.
