Adrian Geary has won the second round of the Super Sedan Summer Series at the Tyrepower Manjimup Speedway in Western Australia, on a day that produced great racing and a spectacular crash in the A Main.

After six qualifying heats, West Australian Champion, Chris Pavlovich and Kevin Bell would share the front row, while Ryan Gunson and Geary would be on row two.

In a hectic and exciting opening few laps, it would be a drag race to the opening corner, with Chris Pavlovich and Kevin Bell running side by side into the opening turn, with Ryan Gunson and Zac Minshull also challenging.

Joined by Geary, the race was set at a cracking pace through the opening laps, with nothing separating the top five, with Geary moving back to fourth on lap five at the expense of Minshull, and with the lead cars running so close, a small mistake from Bell, saw him drop from second to fourth on lap six.

On lap seven Nathan Bell would get sideways exiting turn four, unfortunately at the same time as he was being lapped by Chris Pavlovich, who held a slender advantage, bringing on the caution lights for just the second time for the day. Bell was unable to restart.

When racing resumed, the charge would be on in earnest, with Gunson challenging for the lead but he would spin, leaving Geary and Kevin Bell now where to go. Kyle Larson spun, but hit the stranded Gunson, with Craig Gilbert then hitting Larson heavily. Gunson, Bell, Larson, and Gilbert would all be eliminated from the race. At the same time, a coil wire had come off of Chris Pavlovich’s car, which would see the leader also excluded from the remaining laps.

Adrian Geary then assumed control of the race, and had to survive some late challenges from Adyme Harvey and the very impressive Zac Minshull, with Geary eventually winning by 1.856 seconds. Tony St Jack, Darren Larson and Steve Larson would be the only other finishes from the bruising encounter.

Earlier, unlike the A Main, the qualifying heats were exceptional, with former State Champion, Warren Minshull handing out a hiding to the opposition, winning by over ten seconds, with Ryan Gunson and Adrian Geary fighting for second place throughout the ten laps.

Heat two in contrast, was an absolute thriller with nothing separating Kemble Aylett, Chris Pavlovich and Kevin Bell thoughout. Aylett would lead the first five laps before Pavlovich put on a great out side pass to take the lead, but Aylett fought back, as did Bell, with the three separated by 0.916 at the end of the race.

Bell and Aylett were at it again in heat three, with nothing separating the duo, while Kyle Larson finished third after and excellent battle with Zac Minshull.

Heat four would see nothing separate Adrian Geary, Warren Minshull, Chris Pavlovich and Ryan Gunson in the early stages, but Minshull would pull infield when his engine went off, and rather than destroy the engine he decided it best to retire. Pavlovich hounded Geary until lap seven, when he made another great outside move to take the lead and ultimately the win. Ryan Gunson would finish third.

Zac Minshull led heat five until turn four on the last lap, making one small mistake, enough for Kevin Bell to pounce and take an exciting win. Minshull drove beyond his years, and had a handy lead, but Bell was able to catch the youngster in the concluding stages. Ryan Gunson would again finish in third place.

The final qualifying heat would see Adyme Harvey get some reward for effort after two horror runs earlier in the afternoon. Harvey would record a convincing win by 7.257 seconds with Craig Gilbert holding off Chris Pavlovich who finished third.

Round three of the series will be held at the Make Smoking History Collie Speedway on Saturday, 21 December 2019.
