• Luke Stirton has certainly come a long way since stepping into 410 Sprintcars at the beginning of the 2017-18 season, having significantly improved on his consistency to become a regular feature-race qualifier.

Throughout what is his second full season with the 410 Sprintcars class, the Rouse Hill, NSW-based driver has well and truly exceeded even his own expectations, continually qualifying directly into feature races, which is a feat that he found quite challenging during his debut season, achieving it just once.

Not only did Stirton earn himself several feature-race inclusions, he also managed to outdo himself when it came to his finishing position, hoping to come away with a top-15 result and ultimately blowing that goal out of the water when he greeted the chequered flag in sixth place during the Ultimate Sprintcar Challenge round at Sydney’s Valvoline Raceway.

Contesting the coveted Grand Annual Classic at Warrnambool’s Premier Speedway back in January, Stirton gained a wealth of experience going up against Australia’s best and delivered a solid performance, which saw him qualify into Sunday night’s C main.

Closing his season in a positive fashion, Stirton also wound up cracking into the top 20 drivers in the final Ultimate Sprintcar Championship NSW point standings, impressively placing 18th, with over 90 other drivers having participated in championship rounds.

“We’re really happy with what we’ve been able to achieve this season,” expressed the 19-year-old pilot of the NSW # 10 A-One Charge Air Coolers / Pepper Money supported Maxim car.

“The competition has been extremely tough during each race meeting, but we were able to exceed the expectations we’d set for ourselves which has been a huge achievement.

“None of it would have been possible without the support of my crew, family, friends and sponsors, so I have to say thanks to everyone who’s been involved in getting me to this point and who continues to back me.”

Planning to contest a similar schedule throughout the 2019-20 season, including the full Valvoline Raceway calendar and the Grand Annual Classic in Victoria, Stirton also hopes to venture to Queensland to compete at Toowoomba’s Hi-Tec Oils Speedway.

“Our goal for next season is just to keep improving on what we’ve been doing in order to run closer to the front of the field during feature races, as well as building on our consistency throughout qualifying,” added Stirton.

Stirton would like to thank the following 2018-19 season sponsors for their support: A-One Charge Air Coolers, Pepper Money, Motoradco Industrial Radiators, Natrad, and Total Care 4WD.

Special thanks go to his mum and dad Gail and Paul, and his pit crew Evan Holborow, Alex Bowman and Cooper Hepenstall, along with Adrian Maher and Justin Mineeff.
