• Despite what will be a long-haul west Warrnambool racer Tim Van Ginneken is the first non-Western Australian entry for the 2019 Australian 360ci Sprintcar Title at the Kalgoorlie International Speedway.

Van Ginneken is no stranger to travelling across the country as he is a regular visitor to Darwin for the Chariots of Thunder Series and he has also raced on several occasions in Western Australia, where he captured back to back Western Australian open Sprintcar Championships, but this will be first visit to the Goldfields venue.

Heading into the title Van Ginneken doesn’t have huge expectations but he isn’t travelling across the continent just to make up the numbers.

“We are just hoping to have a good run. My Step Brother is over there with Ray Lenard driving his car, so we will hopefully have a good time away from the track too.

The top 5 would be my aim but there will be a lot of good cars and it’s a track I have never seen before. If we come home with the car in one piece and we have had a bit of fun, that will be a win for us”.

With Tim running predominately open races in Victoria he will be leasing an engine from Pete Morris at Maxwill Race Engines, with Tim also utilising the power plant at the upcoming Tyson “Spud” Perez Memorial race at the Borderline Speedway in preparation for the Australian Title.

Nominations for the Australian 360 Sprintcar Title close this Sunday (February 24, 2019). The nomination form can be found by visiting http://www.sprintcarworld.com.au/360title.asp.

The 2019 Australian 360 Sprintcar Championship will be held at the Kalgoorlie International Speedway between March 14, (Practice & Calcutta) 15 and 16, 2019.
