Last Saturday night was one to remember for young Sprintcar driver Brayden Parr, who collected the second 360 Sprintcar All Stars Series round win of his career at Moama’s Heartland Raceway, by virtue of what was a calculated feature-race performance.

Passing some of the country’s leading 360 Sprintcar drivers after starting the 30-lap feature race from the inside of the third row, it all came down to tyre management for Parr, who attempted to keep his race as clean as possible, while not getting caught up in everyone else’s race.

It was this steady approach that saw the 20-year-old racer gradually make his way through the field, eventually taking control of the lead on lap 19, where he was able to remain through to the fall of the chequered flag.

“Tyre management was really important on the dry track conditions, so I just tried to run my own race and pick and choose my moves, and in the end we were able to get the job done,” said Parr, who sustained burns to his foot the week prior to this result during round seven of the All Stars Series at Horsham’s Blue Ribbon Raceway when the fuel line leaked, causing him to catch fire.

“My foot was a bit sore heading into the event, but after a while the excitement took over and I couldn’t feel it. So much goes into the car at each race meeting and I wouldn’t have been able to achieve this win without the efforts of my whole team, especially my dad (Adrian) and Clint Baker.”

In other news for the Brayden Parr Racing team, the Eden Park, Vic-based driver has been selected to participate in the Speedway Australia Rising Star Program, which sees participants attend a three-day camp where they learn the importance of health and fitness, performance psychology, marketing and much more.

For his next appearance, Parr will be back in action at Hamilton’s Western Speedway for the eighth Eureka Garages & Sheds 410 Sprintcar Series. Currently sitting third in the point standings, a mere three points behind second place, Parr is hoping to continue his winning form when he takes to the Hamilton track to consolidate his front-running position.
