• A mixed start to the 2018-19 season for Brayden Parr hasn’t prevented him from being in a front-running point standings position after the opening rounds of the Eureka Garages & Sheds Sprintcar Series.

Despite a delay with the main engine for the Vic # 77 Compass Powder Coating & Metalworx / TriTech Lubricants supported Triple X car and the team consequently being forced to lease an engine, Parr picked up his best performance of the season by narrowly missing out on a podium finish.

In last Saturday night’s latest Eureka Garages & Sheds Series round at Wangaratta City Speedway, Parr, using a loaned 360 engine from Buzzard Racing team owner David ‘Buzz’ Aldersley, managed to finish in fourth place, which avenged his previous round disappointment at Mount Gambier’s Borderline Speedway (SA), where he was running in podium contention only to crash out on what was a demanding track.

“It was good for the confidence to bounce back from the previous round’s disappointment and hopefully I can continue to pick up strong results in order to remain at the pointy-end of the point standings,” expressed the 20-year-old racer from the northern Melbourne (Vic) suburb of Eden Park.

“The delay with our main engine hasn’t been ideal for the start of the season, but it is what it is, and thankfully I have some fantastic supporters that are right behind me and they have been able to get me out on the track.”

One of those supporters is new car owner Clint Barker, who is right behind the team and the quest of their young driver to run at the front of the field.

“Clint has been a small supporter of mine for a few seasons now, and during the off season he stepped us as the car owner and my family supplies the engine to go into the car,” explained Parr.

“Leading up to the start of the season, it was confirmed that our engine would be delayed, so Clint was quick to organise a leased engine in order for us to not miss any racing, and my family and I can’t be more thankful for all of his continued support.”

Parr’s plans for the rest of the 2018-19 season are to contest the remainder of the Eureka Garages & Sheds Series and hopefully remain at the pointy-end of the point standings battle, along with the Grand Annual Classic at Warrnambool’s Premier Speedway, the Victorian Title and then conclude the season by running the three-round Easter Trail.

Latest Eureka Garages & Sheds Series Point Standings (after four completed rounds):
    1 Corey McCullagh - 1330
    2 Brayden Parr - 1059
    3 Jye O’Keeffe - 1024
    4 Charles Hunter - 996
    5 Bobby Daly - 981
