• The runner up in the 2018 South West Conveyancing Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic and one of the young guns that captured everyone’s attention last January are the two latest drivers to confirm their participation in the 2019 Classic.

Carson Macedo delivered on the Classic Stage for car-owners Sean and Felicity Dyson when he captured a runner-up finish, while Rusty Hickman ran wheel-to-wheel and beyond at times with some of the sports best, in a car that was selected as the Best Presented entry of the 2018 Classic.

Macedo who contracted to World Series Sprintcars in 2017-18 amidst his strong Classic run, carried that rich vein of form back to his native United States where he was consistently strong, predominantly on the ultra-tough All-Star Circuit of Champions Tour.

His form in the 3G Joe Gaerte backed car yielded a runner up finish on the 2018 All-Star Tour, behind eventual series Champion Aaron Reutzel.

Carson Macedo claimed 5 wins with 20 top five performances from his 40 race All-Star Schedule. His wins came at Stateline Speedway, Jamestown NY, Weedsport Speedway, Weedsport NY on back-to-back nights in June, before further wins at Pennsylvania’s famed Lincoln Speedway, Attica Raceway Park in Ohio and Outlaw Speedway in Dundee NY.

His time with the World of Outlaws produced 4 top five results from seven top 10’s, while it was during the Month of Money at Knoxville Raceway that Macedo showed true class both on and off the track when he was chosen to polite the Jason Johnson Racing 41 car for Bobbi and Jaxx Johnson following Jason’s tragic passing.

What Macedo produced was fairy tale stuff!

He finished second in the 360 Nationals and followed that up with another second placing at the Capitani Classic which is one of the toughest single night programs anywhere in the world.

At the Nationals, he set quick time on Night 2 of Qualifying, before failing to transfer out of his heat! Rather than be resigned to a tough week, Macedo fought back to transfer from the B-Main, which he won, to finish 9th in the qualifying nights A-Main which would see he and the 41 Team lock directly in to the A-Main of the Knoxville Nationals.

The Nationals final would see Carson start from position 8 and finish in 6th, while he also drove from deep in the pack in the Speed Sport Challenge to record a 6th place.

From that point forward, it seemed that Carson Macedo was bound for a full-time World of Outlaws ride in 2019, and it just so happens that he will be at the wheel of the Kyle Larson Racing #2 in the toughest Sprintcar Series on the planet next season.

In the shorter term, Carson will again be behind the wheel of the Sean and Felicity Dyson backed N99 for a chance to go one better at the South West Conveyancing Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic. The always meticulously turned out KRE powered KPC Chassis will have support from Complete Parts and Equipment for their shot at Classic history.

On the back of winning the R&M Security Best Presented Car and Crew Award in 2018, as well as running wheel to wheel in a heart stopping race with Tim Kaeding, the hard charging young gun Rusty Hickman is also back for Classic duty.

In 2018 Rusty finished 17th in the Friday Night A-Main before winning C Main 1 and then charging through the B-Main field to finish 6th, narrowly missing the coveted transfer to the A-Main.

Having become the youngest ever winner of the Eureka Sprintcar Series last summer Hickman can now stand among the sports elite as a chance to be in contention for the win on any given night.

With the support to of parent Darren and Sandie the Bendigo native is fast becoming more and more calculated on track and with a hint more polish will be a genuine star of the sport.

In 2019 at the Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic Hickman will have the support of Hickman’s Tree Maintenance, Peerless Products, Jackal Fencing, Camden Signage and Building Services, J&J Auto Racing, Victory Lane Racegear and Revolution Racegear.

The 2019 47th edition of the South West Conveyancing Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic will be supported by the following sponsors; Performance Racegear, KRE Race Engines, GJ Gardner Homes, The Lady Bay Resort and KFC.

Copies of the 2019 Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic entry form have been forwarded to the 2018 entrants while a PDF version is available for download from the Premier Speedway website www.premierspeedway.com.au
