Geelong racer Michael Tancredi used a bit of local knowledge to charge to a memorable win during round 2 of the Mainline Dyno log Dynamometers Allstar Sprintcar Series at the Murray Machining and Sheds Murray Bridge Speedway. After missing the top 6 pole shuffle and starting from position 8 Tancredi was superb in the tough track conditions as he cranked the top wing back and rolled around the bottom storming to the front to edge out early race leader Mark Caruso and round 1 winner Dan Evans.

“To be honest I was really struggling in hot laps and the heat races but Tony (Bartlett) just told to get in and drive it more aggressively and that’s what I did. Tony put a great set up in the car for the track conditions, so I think his knowledge of this track really helped” added the elated winner, who was making his second career start at the Murray Bridge venue.

Caruso, who led 26 of the 30 laps was a little dejected on the podium but he still saw the positives of what was still an impressive run.

“It was one of those times when running second was probably better than leading. I thought I was running well but the lapped cars didn’t go my way and Michael found the rubber on the bottom before I did. But after last weekend it was good to be competitive again and we will just look forward to next week”.

Following Evans across the line was local budget racer Michael Lovegrove who just got the better of Jarman Dalitz, who started from position 11, as they raced towards the chequered flag. Former South Australian Champion Brendan Quinn was next ahead of Jamie Hendry, who enjoyed one his best performances for several years, Phil Lock, Brendan Guerin and Trigga Gates.

For Guerin, the result could have been a lot better if it wasn’t for a spin on lap 1 that saw Guerin slip towards the back of the pack after starting from position 3.

After winning the pole shuffle Terry Pitt’s night ended on lap 2 of the A-Main after he spun his #7 J&J on the slick track in turn two and was hit hard by rookie Ben Morris while sitting stationary on the track. The contact saw Morris roll his Phil March owned #3 J&J for the second consecutive week heavily damaging both cars.

Earlier the six heat winners were Terry Pitt, Phil Lock, Brendan Guerin, Michael Lovegrove, Jamie Hendry and James Wren. Michael Holt was victorious in the B-Main while Mark Caruso set Quick Time during Time Trials with a lap of 12.041 just edging out Phil Lock.

The next event at the Murray Machining and Sheds Murray Bridge Speedway will be Saturday November 17, 2018 with the Ultimate Speedway Challenge featuring Round 2 of the Shadetec Ultimate Sprintcar Championship SA, the South Australian Late Model Championship and Speedcars.
