• It is now just over a week until the 2018-19 season kicks off at Sungold Stadium, Premier Speedway, Warrnambool, with the staging of the opening night of the $10,000 to win Parr Motorsports Sprintcar Track Premiership set to dominate proceedings on Saturday November 3.

Doubling as Round 3 of the Eureka Garages and Sheds Sprintcar Series, and also featuring the Junior Sedan Yeoman Williams Memorial, the opening night looks like being as entertaining as ever.

With on-line tickets sales for all events having commenced on Monday, via the Club’s website www.premierspeedway.com.au, much attention has already turned to January and the staging of the 47th South West Conveyancing Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic.

Of the 46 completed Classics only 25 drivers have earnt the right to add their names to the Classic honor roll. Of those 25, Garry Rush visited victory lane and amazing seven times, while America’s original Classic Ambassador Danny Smith was hot on Rush’s tail with six wins of his own.

The only three-time winners are the impressive trio of Max Dumesny, Kerry Madsen and Brooke Tatnell who incidentally have claimed an amazing 12 Australian Championships between them as well!

The two-time Classic winners list, while also being a compact list, is most definitely not short on talent, with Jac Haudenschild, Donny Schatz and Steven Lines having claimed victory twice, with both Haudenschild (1981 & 82) and Schatz (2001 & 02) having completed back-to-back wins.

Looking to join this illustrious trio, will be 2018 Classic Champion Corey McCullagh who has signaled his intent by nominating his JM Industries Powered V90 Maxim for duty as he goes in search of a second successive Classic win.

This will be no easy feat, as since Ian Loudoun punctuated Steven Lines’ two wins in 2011 and 2013, the Classic has produced another five straight first-time winners, with California’s Tim Kaeding winning in 2014 with his fellow Californian Kyle Hirst following suit in 2015.

With James McFadden now domiciled in Warrnambool, McCullagh’s victory last January continued an amazing run of local success following Jamie Veal in 2016 and McFadden in 2017 as the latest Classic Champions.

For his assault on the 2019 Classic, McCullagh will again enjoy a host of local support with event sponsors South West Conveyancing on board along with Owen Built Homes, Owen Truss, TAG Plasters, Hogs Breath Caf, Ballarat, Performance Racegear and Warrnambool RV and Caravan Centre.

Joining McCullagh in confirming his entry for the Classic is New South Welshman Peter O’Neill who will campaign his N83 J&J come the $30,000.00 to win Classic on the weekend of January 18 to 20, 2019.

For his trip across the border O’Neill will enjoy the support of Orr Racing, Meander Village, Elite Wings, Peter O’Neill & Associates Pty Ltd and MMSR.

The 2019 47th edition of the South West Conveyancing Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic will be supported by the following sponsors; Performance Racegear, KRE Race Engines, GJ Gardner Homes, The Lady Bay Resort and KFC.

Copies of the 2019 Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic entry form have been forwarded to the 2018 entrants while a PDF version is available for download from the Premier Speedway website www.premierspeedway.com.au
