Alexandra Speedway begin their season this Saturday night with a club show night to get things kick started featuring strong fields of Sports Sedans, Junior Sedans in National and State sanctioned classes along with Standard Saloons, Ladies Standard Saloons and Unlimited Sedans on the programme.

The crowd pleasing Sports Sedan category has attracted strong competition from the likes of Steve Kershaw from Healesville, Luke Fallon a local lad from Alexandra township, Josh Service, Ricky Cornwall, Jack Van Bremen, Lee beach and Dale Smith all from the eastern suburbs of Melbourne and Nathan Shortis from Mulwala in the line up.

The racing is sure to be close with Kershaw and Fallon the favoured competitors in the field, Fallon a record holder in lap times and a champion of the endure distance events at the end of the season.
In National Junior competition A Grade competitors include Kasey Garlick who is very quick around the big Alexandra Speedway.

Courtney Meakins and her brother Rhys are keen to make sure Garlick does not have things all her way. Whilst in the B Grade National Juniors field includes a number of rookie competitors, Linken Paterson who only began racing last season looks the strongest of the entrants with the Barton sisters who also began their careers last season keen to continue their improvements.

In the state Junior Sedans class it looks like it will be a great night’s action with last season’s Alexandra Club champion in the class Connor Donegan up against Lachlan Fitzpatrick and Tristan McGraw from the Goulburn Valley Club. Nick Cherry who also won in the class the previous season is another to watch.

The Standard Saloons also have a good field of entrants with one lap record holder Garry Evans down from Yarrawonga and Daryl Joosten from the Corowa club who has a liking for the Alexandra track to do battle against club members including Aaron Meakins, Cory Horter and Terry Bullard.

Racing starts from 4pm on Saturday with action finishing somewhere between 9.30 to 11pm depending on stoppages during the night.

Entry is $20 the price of an adult entry and $10 for children aged 10 to 16 and aged and invalid pensioners. Children under 10 years of age enter for free.
