• Current World Series Sprintcars Champion James McFadden will return to his home town on Thursday August 30 as he competes at the 2018 Dance In The Desert at the Arunga Park Speedway in Alice Springs. His appearance in Alice Springs will come hot on the heels of McFadden contesting the Knoxville Nationals and four nights of racing in Darwin during the Chariots of Thunder Series therefore he will enter the meeting race ready and will start the event as a clear favourite.

Club President Garth Thompson is eagerly awaiting the return of the Sprintcars to the central Australian venue and to have a local favourite, and one of the best drivers in Australia, return to support the event will make it one of the biggest Speedway events ever seen in the township. “Monte Motorsport is pleased to give James the chance to come back home to where it all started for him as a teenager, and Arunga Park are thrilled to have him back in Alice Springs. James doesn’t get the chance to race here in front of his family and friends very often, so it should be an enjoyable night for James as well. But James is just 1 of a number of quality drivers we have entered so it should be a great night of open wheeled racing” he added with great enthusiasm.

Joining “J-Mac” will be the likes of two-time Western Australian Champion Tim Van Ginneken from Warrnambool, Murray Bridge’s Ryan Jones, who is coming off his best season in a 410ci Sprintcar with 4 main event wins, Western Australian young gun Mitch Wormall, who was victorious in the race last season, fellow West Aussie Scott Reilly, Victorian Jack Lee and Queenslander Andrew Corbet.

The Northern Territorian contingent includes the return of both Daniel and Jarrod Goldoni, rookie Kale Quinlan, Darwin’s Jamie O’Neill and local Alice Springs racer Lenny Cole.

Arunga Park Speedway would like to thank Motorsports NT, Dave’s Used Cars and A1 Mechanical for their assistance with the event.

Nominations are still open for the “Dance In The Desert” with nomination forms available for download at www.arungapark.com.
