• The 2018-19 season is gearing up to be a big one for Wingless Sprint regular Sam Borlini, who will be running double duties this season, having recently made his debut with the 360 Sprintcars class aboard his WA # 24 Nyabing Transport / Nyabing AG Services backed Maxim.

Deciding to challenge himself further by stepping into the new class, purchasing his Maxim Sprintcar from Steve Duggan at Cowara Motorsport, while also continuing his Wingless Sprint career behind the wheel of the NT # 14 Total Tools Winnellie supported machine owned by Darwin’s Mike Borchardt, Borlini took the opportunity to begin his introduction to the class recently, getting his season underway at Ellenbrook Speedway.

Contesting the second round of the Winter Series, it was an encouraging debut for the 27-year-old racer, who qualified for the feature race, coming home just outside of the top 10 in 11th, out of 24 cars.

“Racing Sprintcars is something that I’ve always wanted to do and my first hit out with the class certainly didn’t disappoint,” commented Borlini.

“It’s definitely going to be a bit of a learning curve, but I think my experience in Wingless Sprints will help me in terms of knowing where to put the car on the track. My first full season with the class is going to be a busy one, but I’m really looking forward to it.”

Planning to return to Darwin’s Northline Speedway in the coming months with good mate and 410 Sprintcar racer James Inglis, Borlini will be running double duties during the Chariots of Thunder Series in August, which will incorporate numerous blue-ribbon events, including the NT Titles. Having previously taken out the Darwin Title, the NT Club Championship, the Britton Medal and the NT Triple Challenge in Wingless Sprints, the Perth, WA-based driver will be hoping to deliver a strong showing in both classes.

Throughout the 2018-19 season, Borlini also plans to participate in the full 360 Sprintcar Power Series, as well as contesting the Australian 360 Sprintcar Title at Kalgoorlie International Speedway and the Australian Wingless Sprint Championship at Warrnambool’s Premier Speedway.

For his next appearance, Borlini will be competing in Wingless Sprints at Northline Speedway this Saturday night, while his next 360 Sprintcars appearance will be the third round of the Winter Series at Ellenbrook Speedway on Sunday, June 24.

Borlini would like to thank the following 2018-19 sponsors for their valued support: Nyabing Transport, Nyabing AG Services, Neil Thompson Trading, Australian Mechanical Planning Services, LJS Equipment, JP Signature, and Fly Racewear.
