• This Saturday night Nyora Raceway hosts the biggest race of the local Sprintcar season with the Victorian title on the line for almost twenty of the big things with the wings all vying for that number one recognition and not to be out done the little cousins the Mini Sprints are on the show also and they too will be competing for their Victorian title, it is going to be a great night for open wheel dirt track fans.

The three hottest drivers in recent weeks of racing in the Sprintcars include Mitch Foster from Moe, Adam Greenwood from Bairnsdale and Shane Steenholdt from Paynesville, however they will have keen challengers including Wayne Nicholls from Pakenham a two times 360ci Sprintcar Victorian champion in the past, Gerry Hoekstra the big Canadian Bear now from Ferntree Gully and previously accomplished in Tasmania and Mark Noonan also from Bairnsdale a multiple times state champion in Limited Sportsmans and plenty of top results in the 360 ranks also.

Foster is the most accomplished of the competitors and his entry into the fray this season kicked off with a couple of wins including a sensational victory at very high speed at Ballarat’s Redline Raceway, this seemed to lift Greenwood up another gear and the battle is on. Nyora is an elbows up raceway, a racers track and drivers are going to need to have their whits about them and be prepared to try the mid track to high line up the top end of the track to make moves stick.

In Mini Sprints two new New South Wales based members Danny Stone and Peter Styles have been welcomed into the club and their performances at Redline recently suggest they will be hard to beat. Owen Schnoor is piloting the best Victorian equipment and is the man most likely, however his dad Darren took out a recent win and has reminded us not to forget about him when it comes to the Mini Sprint Victorian title.

Support action comes from all the local club classes including the Standard Saloons with cousins Mark and Brendon Miles up against each other however former Victorian champion Micheal Ardley will have something to say about things when it comes to heading for the chequered flag.

Junior Sedan action comes by way of the national Junior Sedan category and Nick Cherry who was second at the most recent show leads the nominations with Rhys Meakins one of Victorians most improved B graded drivers competing also. Throw in Pakenham’s Jack Ramsdale who has not done much racing this season, however did have a ripper run recently in Queensland finishing on the podium at Kingaroy.

Ladies Standard Saloons and Sports Sedans also share the program in what will be a great event.

Racing starts from 5pm on Saturday evening costing $20 for an adult, Kids 12 to 16 are $10 each whilst all other children are free, Pensioners are $10 & a Family ticket is $50 for 2 adults and three 12 – 16 kids & others less than 12 in age.
