• Last Saturday night saw a great lead up event to this weekend’s Australian Speedcar Championship at the Murray Machining and Sheds Murray Bridge Speedway with the South Australian Championship at the same venue. Wit the field containing a majority of the 41 drivers who will line-up for the National Title it was Western Australian young gun Dayne Kingshott who put his name forward as a pre-event favourite as he dominated the 25-lap final to capture his first South Australian Championship.

Second across the line was local Murray Bridge racer Ryan Jones, who was making his first start in a Speedcar for a couple of seasons, but he looked right at home in the flat black Hawk powered Spike #12 as he took a heat win before recording his impressive runner-up finish. Third place went to American legend Dave Darland, who was making his Murray Bridge debut in the Troy Jordan owned Stealth / Toyota.

Victorian standout Travis Mills also tuned up for the Title in style as he finished fourth with Queensland’s Troy Ware surprising many with a top 5. Teenager Kaidon Brown, Harley Bishop, Andy Pearce, Nick Rowe and Nick Parker rounded out the top 10.

Four times Australian Champion Adam Clarke’s feature race ended on lap four after rolling Smith & Woods Triple X in turn four.

With the South Australian Championship now complete the driver’s attention will now turn to the Australian Championship that begins on Friday night with 41 drivers on the official entry list. In addition to the field that raced last Saturday night New Zealanders Michael Pickens and Hayden Williams and a second American Alex Bright will join the field making the nomination list one of the best ever seen in South Australia.
