• This Sunday January the 14th will see dirt track action return to West Gippsland with Drouin Speedway hosting a day of ‘Dog Leg’ racing with competitors making a detour off the regular oval course and heading into the infield at turn four and coming back out on track at the entry to turn one, the day is sure to be full of thrills and spills, especially with round two of the Gippsland Cup for Ladies Crash and Bash the headline act of the day.

The Ladies Crash and Bash who thrilled fans in December, will return for the second round of their Gippsland Cup mini-series with the first round winner Leeanne Young returning to defend her lead in the series. Bianca Brown and Lea Judd return to keep the pressure on the leader whilst a number of the Ladies with ties to Drouin over many years in the field looking to shake things up. Watch for Sarah Price who very entertaining in her first ever Crash and Bash in December at the same track and Sharon Morrison who wants to make up for a poor round before Christmas to be amongst those challenging the front runners.

Action in all the club classes should be interesting as drivers compete for the bragging rights of winning the ‘Dog Leg’ event for their respective classes. In Standard Saloons it is hard to look past Leigh Gooding in the line up however Mick Coomer, Leigh Mitchell and Garry Charles are just a few set to challenge.

Ladies Standard Saloons are on the program and Sports Sedans with all drivers looking forward to getting through the dog leg on Sunday.

In the Unlimited Sedans who are not scheduled to run through the dog leg, Warrick Taylor leads the nominations; however Peter Cox is very experienced on this sort of race surface, and is hoping to come up a winner on Sunday.

Division 2 Hot Rod entries including a host of racers with the surname Angus, it is a real tongue twister during the day as Peter, Scott, Daniel and Jamie will tackle the likes of Scott Laidlaw the current class champion, Rob Tatterson and Daniel Stewart. It is hard to look past Laidlaw for the win.

Jack Yeomans, Ally Morrison and Lewis Williams are amongst Junior Standard Saloon racers keen to get some action in the last event prior to the upcoming Victorian title at Rosedale at the end of the month. Yeomans continues to be very consistent at the front of the field, Williams has proven to be quick around Drouin and is looking for some consistency whilst the current Victoria 2 driver Ally Morrison is dusting out the cobwebs having not competed in her Standard Saloon for a little while and prepare for the upcoming title event. The Juniors will not run through the dog leg in order to protect their cars in the title lead up.

Gates open from 8am. Racing starts at 11am. Entry will cost $15 for an adult, Pensioner. Children 12 to 16yrs is $10 and Children under 12 years of age are free. A family ticket for 2 adults and 2 children aged 12 to 16 will cost $40.
