• Jamie Oldfield dominated action at Manjimup Speedway on Saturday night, winning three heats from three starts en route to claiming the twenty five lap Street Stock Stampede feature event.

Courtesy of his three heat wins Oldfield would start from pole alongside another visiting driver in Peter Dowie, while local boys Clint Hadley and David Fall would start from row two.

As the race went green for the first time and going the non-traditional way, Oldfield would grab the early lead, but Dowie challenged hard and Oldfield was only just able to hold on to lead lap one.

Behind them, Hayden Norman quickly gained two positions to move into third, having started fifth after a heat win and a second place before a DNS in his final heat cost him valuable points.

The first yellow came out on lap three as Daniel Sutton came to a stop in turn four due to motor issues. As the field lined up to restart it was noted that Brad Smith, who had started dead last in sixteenth, was already up to sixth place and looked to be a real threat.

Just one lap later the race was under yellows lights again, this time as Jason Whild spun in turn four.

With twenty laps to go, Oldfield would pull away into the lead while Norman worked hard to look for a way past Dowie.

Two laps later the yellows were on again, this time as Jamie Simmonds and Tim Matthews spun together in turn two, then the yellows came out yet again without a lap being completed, this time for an exhaust laying on the track which was identified as belonging to Smith, seeing him sent back to the rear and undoing all of his hard charging efforts.

On the ensuing restart Norman would finally get his opportunity, diving to the inside of Dowie and grabbing second place in turn four. Jack Favero would also move into the top five after starting tenth.

Another yellow light stoppage for Simmonds and veteran racer Barry Hunter would be next as they came together in turn three, while Simmonds and Smith would come together on the next start seeing Simmonds head infield with significant damage while Smith was disqualified.

Back up front though the battle was on as Norman chased hard but could not quite gain any ground on Oldfield until the almost unthinkable happened.

The lapped car of Hunter had a half lose just as Oldfield came around to lap him, the duo making contact and Oldfield slowing almost to a stop. This allowed Norman to quickly catch Oldfield, but he was forced to slam on the brakes to avoid the two almost stopped cars.
Such was the leading duos lead that Oldfield was able to take off once again, still in the lead and without bringing out the yellows, while Hunter also rejoined the field.

Norman however was nearly swallowed up by the rest of the chasing pack, headed by third placed David Hall who was the battling Jack Favero at the time, a battle which Norman would then have to fight off for the remaining laps, while Oldfield skipped away, going on to record a solid win in the Street Stock Stampede over Norman and Fall. Favero, Dowie, Ricky Sing, Hadley, Jason Whild, Cody Elphick and Hunter would round out the ten finishers.

Also on the same program Jonty Barnsby dominated Junior Sedan action, claiming three heats wins from three starts before leading every lap of the feature event, defeating Hope Batchelor and Ellie Sing.
