• The 2017-18 Premier Speedway Club season at Sungold Stadium, Warrnambool will again showcase the very best of what the sport of Dirt Track Speedway Racing has to offer, including the staging of the 46th Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic.

More than ten different racing divisions will strut their stuff over 12 nights of competition with the opening meeting of the season set down for November 4, 2017.

With Sprintcars will dominate the calendar, Premier Speedway will also host several Feature Events for the remaining divisions who take to the track including Victorian State Titles for both the Speedcars and Legend Cars.

Regular Premier Speedway Feature events including the Yeoman Williams Memorial and Neville Pike Cup events for Junior Sedans, the Jack Willsher Cup and Speedweek Series events for Formula 500’s as well as multiple rounds of the AWSR Wingless Sprint Victorian Series and the Super Rod Cup have also been scheduled.

2017-18 will also see the return of 360 Sprintcars, the Modified Production division and the hugely popular Super Sedans class.

“There have been many contributing factors behind the delayed announcement of our calendar, including things like the uncertainty, until recently, of when and where some of the National Titles were to be held”, Premier Speedway Manager David Mills said.

“Naturally we can’t or don’t choose to clash with these where possible” he said.

“We feel we are on top of this now and while we are disappointed that there are a couple of divisions that we couldn’t accommodate for the 2017-18 season, due to date clashes and unavailability, we look forward to welcoming them back in 2018-19 as we indeed look forward to an exciting 2017-18 season”, Mills added.

Also noted in the calendar announcement is the return of the Black Dog Cruise which proved to be successful when held for the first time during November 2016.

“The Black Dog Cruise, which is a not-for-profit fundraising event hoping to increase the awareness of illnesses such as depression and anxiety as well as the consequences of suicide within society”, Mills added.

The Premier Speedway club aims to add a Car Boot Sale to this event, as scheduled for Saturday November 11.

The volunteer work force at Premier Speedway is already busily trying to improve the venue ahead of what promises to be another sensational season of on-track action.

The team have again swung into action here, with the first phase of a new track lighting system now in place and operational with Premier Speedway working with renowned sports lighting company Musco to ensure all is in readiness for our season opener on November 4.

“It is exciting to see the new lighting eventuate, and I can’t thank our Board Member Paul Hose and all those involved enough for their hard work regarding this project. I have no doubt when the punters arrive the venue will have a different look and feel to it”, Mills added.

Going hand in hand with these improvements is the news that a majority of the Club’s fantastic sponsors are back on board with the likes of 3YB and Coast FM, South West Conveyancing, The Standard and Fresha all re-committing to the cause.

“Sungold Milk is about to enter their 13th year as venue Naming Rights Sponsors, Our Classic supporting sponsors The Lady Bay Resort and KRE Race Engines have renewed their agreements, while Performance Racegear and KFC have been welcomed with open arms as we look forward to making the Classic even better in 2018”, Mills added.

“We are hopeful of some more big announcements soon as far as our search for a replacement Naming Rights Supporter of the Classic is concerned and with some exciting sponsorship opportunities still available, the time is right to secure a chance to be a part of the great season that lays ahead”, he concluded.

Seasonal memberships, seasons passes, grandstand and terrace seating renewals are now on offer and it is anticipated that on-line ticketing options will be available to the public for all race meetings including the 46th Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic in early October.
