• V8 Sprintcar racing returns to Castrol Edge Lismore Speedway Easter Sunday night for the final round of the 2017 Queensland/New South Wales Easter Sprintcar Trail.
Promoter David Lander has received 31 nominations for the event.
Former Australian Sprintcar and Speedcar Champion Robbie Farr heads the entry list, while Sydney star Sam Walsh also has entered.
Farr has enjoyed another successful campaign on the Ultimate Sprintcar Championship circuit and has dominated the USC series in both NSW and Queensland.
The meeting also will see the return to the Lismore Showground of former V8 Dirt Modified star Luke Oldfield, who before his move into 410 Sprintcars, was one of the top performers at the Northern Rivers circuit.
He mastered the testing Lismore bull ring with some notable performances. He recorded a number of major victories including success in the annual Mr Modified Series and Lord Mayor's Cup.
Oldfield is enjoying a strong season racing with Sprintcars Queensland and is well in the running for honours in the Sprintcars Queensland Club Championship.
Andrew Scheuerle, Bryan Mann, Lachlan McHugh, Darren Jensen, Peter Lack, Brock Dean and Kevin Titman head up the big contingent of Queensland drivers who have nominated for the deciding Lismore round.
There is some Australian speedway history in amongst those names.
Kevin Titman is the son of former Australian Test rider, National Champion, World Finalist and Test rider John Titman.
John, who rode for many years with the famous Halifax Dukes in the First Division British League, also qualified for the 1978 World Final at London's Wembley Stadium.
This was the second-last time the World Speedway Championship for bikes was held at the famous Wembley arena. (The last year was 1981 when American Bruce Penhall won the first of his two World Championships.) John is one of the great Australian post-war speedway riders.
Lachlan McHugh is the son of Australian Super Sedan Champion and state titleholder Jamie McHugh.
Lachlan has had many years at the wheel after he started his career driving Karts at a young age. Braydan Willmington is one of the most travelled drivers competing in the east coast Easter trail.
Hailing from Marulan, NSW, Braydan is a product of Junior Sedan racing.
After his stint in the Juniors he moved into Speedcars and was good enough early in his open wheel career to be selected as a contracted driver for Ken Jenkins' Speedcar Super Series before driving Sprintcars.
Braydan comes from a family steeped in racing tradition. His father, Gary competed in the Bathurst 1000 21 times. Teaming with Bob Holden in 1987, Gary won his class outright driving a Toyota Sprinter in the days when the event also doubled as a round of the World Touring car Championship.
Gary, who in 1970 commenced his motor racing career in Sports Sedans, entered touring cars for the first time in 1975 driving the ex-John Goss Ford Falcon two door Hardtop in the Group C class.
The NSW Wingless Sprintcar Championship also will be decided at Lismore Easter Sunday night.
Gates open at 3PM and racing commences at 6.
