  • Toowoomba raised Terry Leerentveld is looking to defend his Queensland Title in what is shaping up to be one of the most open Queensland titles in Modlite history this Saturday at Hi-Tec Oils Speedway.

Leerentveld was able to capture the South Australian title earlier this year but has since been dethroned of his Australia title and New South Wales Titles. His arch rival and nemesis Aaron Prosser currently has the coveted A1 on his door and will be looking to add to his silverware and title success. Terry and Aaron have been duelling for the last couple of seasons and their on-track battles have been a crowd favourite around the nation.

South Australian hotshot Graham Knuckey will be making the journey to Toowoomba Speedway as he looks to take the honours away from the local contingent. Earlier this year Graham won the Night 1 Preliminary A Main at the Australian title but couldn’t quite get the job done when it mattered. He would love to put SA Modlites on the map and take the title south.

This years undoubted rookie of the year Klinton Hancey swept all before him in the recent New South Wales title at Sydney Speedway. This was Klinton’s first feature win aboard his Pro chassis and he is another one that can’t be discounted on title night.

The New South Wales cockroach charge will be fronted by Wayne Donaldson, Tim Luscombe and 2015/16 Qld champion Will Butler. These interstaters all have plenty of experience against the domestic Queensland contingent and any one of these three could be a surprise packet on the night.

Queensland has long been the hotbed of Modlite racing in Australia and the local drivers will be out to put on a show. Brad Dawson fresh from a podium finish earlier this year will make his first trip to Toowoomba and will also be a real threat. Don’t discount the likes of Robert hardy, Kurt Gambower, Ben Walker and Alex Coward to threaten a podium and potentially an A main victory.

Toowoomba Titans Sean Middleton and Australian number two Scott Lehfeldt will be looking to perform in front of their home crowd and put their local track knowledge to the test.

The explosiveness of these cars are a winner with the younger generation as well as the sports purists. This will be the first time the division has hit the magnificent highbanks of Toowoomba Speedway and they will certainly set the night alight with some fast and furious action.
