• This Sunday Drouin Speedway will entertain motorsport fans with a great days racing followed by the ever popular Demolition Derby!

The Drouin Speedway Club committee are pleased to have attracted a great number of entrants across all divisions for this weekend’s race meeting, which includes the Eliminator Cup for Standard Saloons as the feature race event of the day.

The Eliminator Cup will be contested by twenty plus competitors including Drouin members Cameron Dike the current number two driver in Victoria & Mark Miles the current number four driver in Victoria. The Eliminator Cup forms part of the Victorian State point score which Pakenham resident Miles has won the last two seasons in succession, Sean Connolly & Aaron Marshall from Bendigo after a good start to this year’s point score are coming along with former Victorian champion Dale Morrison from Officer & current Victorian Champion Micheal Ardley from Mornington.

Jacob Vuillermin, Matt Nelson, Daniel Stewart, Jeff & Mitch Blencowe from Bunyip who both current sit in the top four in the state point score & Leigh Gooding make the field jam packed with potential winners, what a race it should be!

The Demolition is the second biggest event of the day, or the biggest depending on whether you’re a race fan or a tearing up cars type of fan. Last year a few learner competitors got bogged when trying to compete in the Demolition Derby, let’s hope they have learnt from their mistakes, because with $1500 on the line to win, you need to be on your game for the crashing, smashing & crunching that is all in a Demolition Derby.

The Ladies Standard Saloons finally kick off their ‘Haze by Hair Design’ track championship with a great field of entrants that hopefully will continue on through the season trying to become the track champion. Tegan Bullard on history is the strongest competitor in the field, whilst Debbie Hickson is looking at re-starting her racing career, many years ago she was a great Super Sedan competitor.

Junior Standard Saloons Boost 2 Drive series that includes Rosedale & Drouin events continues with eight youngsters competing this weekend. On track this season Jack Yeomans is the leading the way with a number of feature race wins already to his name. However the Victorian Champ Matt Bowers and last season’s top qualifier at the title Ally Morrison are in this field to make things a little tougher. A number of first timers to the Drouin Speedway are also set to compete with local Rhys Lansdown.

Open Wheel racing is on the program with the very quick Mini Sprint division competing in a Gold Cup series event. Darren Schnoor who was the top competitor at the Nyora Camp Quality Day back in October is hoping to have sorted out his mechanical gremlins in order to challenge at the front of the pack this weekend, whilst Andrew Burleigh & Jason Lynn both had good runs at Redline recently & hope to convert into a feature race win this weekend.

Finally both the Division 2 Hot Rod & the VSC Open Sedans will have a run this weekend with the Hot Rods field including their current Victorian Champion Morwell’s Scott Laidlaw, Rob Tatterson from Trafalgar & Broderick Stray the most likely to win in an all-important set up tester before their Victorian title at Drouin after Christmas.
Open Sedans could come down to a battle between Matt or Wayne Nelson depending who wants to take the steering wheel, Sam Williams & Stray doing double duty with his car for the day.
